Help with hydrolastic suspension
Help with hydrolastic suspension
I need to change the rear sub frame on a 1980 Austin Mini {Rover}.
The Haynes manual says it will be neccessary to have the system depressurised by a Rover dealer and then repreassurised by a Rover dealer.
There isn't anyone in my area that knows anything about this car.
Is there a way of doing this myself?
Anyone have experience in this area?

1980 Mini should be dry suspension ie. rubber cones?
However if it is Hydrolastic you can depressurise it yourself (like letting tyres down) via the schrader valves on the back of the rear subframe crossmember but you will loose the fluid and then need a special pump to repressurise the system. The car can be driven only very slowly on the bumpstops to a garage with a pump.
