Long Distance Trip During Break-In

Hello all,

I've had my '07 MCS for about three weeks now, with about 650 miles on the odometer. I'm thinking of making a 6 hour drive up to San Francisco from L.A., but I'm wonder if I should or shouldn't do this while the car is still in its break-in period... Suggestions?

My drive home from the dealer was 87 miles (mostly on 101). I now have about the same mileage as you and am about to drive from Carmel Valley to Los Angeles down 1.

I think the recommendation is to vary your speed and give it lots of deceleration moments to flood the engine with oil. At least that is the traditional recommendation. I wonder if it is necessary with the Prince's flow-controlled oil pump?

Personally, I'd be a little concerned about going up 5. That's a long steady grind, and can be very hot. I could be wrong, may not be a problem.

Vary your speed a lot. I picked up my car with 2 miles on the odometer and had an 80 mile trek down an interstate to go home. I varied the RPM some and got off at several exits and then just got back on so that I had to completely stop and accelerate through the RPM range and the gears. Maybe neurotic.... Skuzzy?? Oh no, not me too!!!
