Garmin Nuvi (Rebranded to MINI)

In the Mini Motoring Accessories You-Ification Workbook, I noticed there is a Garmin Nuvi (rebranded Mini) shown next to the instrument cluster. It is totally cool where they changed the car on the mapping software to look like a Mini!

Does anyone know how the Garmin Nuvi is held in place next to the instrument cluster? I don't have a Mini, but I have another Garmin unit that has a windsheild sucker (sucks on the windsheild).

Good question. Here's a link to the picture for those interested: http://www.motoringfun.com/~images/2...ortablenav.jpg.

I've gone with the sucker for now, but if anyone has a keen mount solution, please share.

This is from the Accessories section from the East Bay MINI site. $750 for the parts. How much would they charge for labour? I'm thinking the total would be around $1000. Looks good though. Doesn't say which model Garmin it is though. I'll earn some more points on my MINI VISA first and then think about adding it on in 6 months.

A 360... is that good or bad for that price? I haven't done any research on GPS systems, so I don't know what's what. Would it be better to just the store model? But, then I think they wire it up in the MINI version so no need to plug it into the cigarette lighter, right? I love the customisable car though.

A hair under $650 MSRP, if it's the 360. Man, I like the bluetooth phone feature. I'm seriously gonna consider this one!

An extra $100 for the customisable MINI car... depends on what they charging for labour at the Dealer, but if they'll be hiding wires and making it clean and simple for $1000, I'll save up my pennies and go for it.

I have the "Garmin Nüvi 360 MINI Cooper Europe" for a while now and I absolutely love it! It's just some details this Nüvi has and other Nüvi's don't have. All the MINI dealers (addresses and phone numbers), a little MINI on you're screen (that MINI you can personalize with a software programme), the special mount, and so on. It is an official MINI product.

The mount goes onto the back of the rev counter. You can work away the cable via the wheel house.

The cable you just worked away has to be connected to the wires of the MINI so that if you start you're MINI the Garmin will automatically go on. If you stop the car it will automatically go into charging.

The mount

From behind the wheel!

Wow, I love it! Thanks for the detailed pics. I'll probably make it a Christmas gift to myself. Or is there an earlier holiday I can use as an excuse? Independence Day. Canada Day. Abour Day. All those work. This is dealer installed, yes? How much did your dealer charge for install?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350.. works great.. The 360 owners need to extract that car file so all other garmin nuvi owners can use it.. I already have the MINI Wings splash page as my opening screen when it boots up

How do you control it?
Would reaching behind the steering wheel a bit inconvenient?

what i dont get it is, how would you use it when its on the mount! yes i am braking the law to hit home when im on the move, i try to do it only when im at a stop, but sometimes i need to turn it off or somthing and it looks like you would need to reach to the left and around the wheel, where as mine and others that are mounted to the windshiled on the left, you have a clear hit. and with that, you barely have to divert your eyes from the road, since its still on the windshield haha
