I'm not sure this is the right forum for this message. I'm about to do a road trip and seek back road advice. My general route will be from Santa Fe to southern Kansas and then more or less east. I'm planning to hit the Great Smokey Mt. Natl. Park and then pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway to head towards Philly. I'll catch Interstate highway from time to time to pick up speed (well, maybe not) but would like to get some local knowldege about good routes near my path, whether they move me closer or not. Of course, I'll do the Dragon. I'm sure there are some other special twistys near my course. Please advise.

I'll try to visit this thread with photos as I progress.

Oh, to those of you at the Dragon now, I expect quite a lot of traffic heading home, please be sure to dim you lights!

 

Try to come in to SW Kansas on H54, take it east across 1/2 the state to H13 and take it North to I70 (which you can take further east and out of the state).

H54 highlights include plenty of experiences in small town rural America. You'll pass right through Greensburg (which was just destroyed by a tornado on Friday night :( ) along with Pratt and a few other great little towns (note good eats). East of Wichita you'll find H13 North which you can take past Council Grove (lots of history...several indian treaties were signed here) but it also has some really fun twisties.

You'll hit I70 on a really scenic area heading east, wide open rolling prairie hills. Watch out for the wind this type of year.
