Hooray for R56 MINI colors!!

The MINIs at my local dealer had been looking a little peaked for the past few years but no more. Mellow Yellow and Laser Blue have definitely spiced up the palette and now we are finally getting a peek at Oxygen Blue and Nightfire Red...well, the color spectrum is restored once again to perfect harmony. I can think of few times in MINI history (the last five years of it anyway) when owners had so much choice on how to dress their MINIs. What I also love is the nod to classic looks...very nice, MINI!!!

Do you think they heard our cry for more fun colors? I know they heard mine after all my whining about Electric Blue unavailability for U.S.-bound Coopers. Yup...I had a fever...and the only cure...was Oxygen Blue!!!!

You know, I wish they had a solid non-metallic british racing green. That's the only thing that might have swayed me from red. Dark green with a nice pale yellow stripe...

I think that thought has been consistently spoken (at least by someone) since the MINI made it's debut. Perhaps one day...but they'd most likely have to lose the current BRG to do so. Perhaps they feel the current BRG fits the more upscale image of the new MINI...I can see that being a possibility.

However...I can also see where Mellow Yellow, Nightfire Red, and Oxygen Blue are slightly adjusted in versions of Liquid Yellow, Velvet Red, and Electric Blue. I suppose anything is possible!!

Well metallic colors have always been historically more expensive, but these days its not uncommon to have manufacturers offer nothing but metallic colors, or no upcharge for the same.

For me I absolutely prefer solid colors. Its a shame that the range is so small on the mini. They definitely want people to spend on the paint.

How about a nice solid non-metallic black?

I agree with the non metallic BRG. I keep thinking every year it will finally sink in. Metallic upscale? Umm, look at Jags and Bentleys with non metallic BRG. We went with red. Had they figured out BRG we would've gone with that.

Yeah - black should be solid. If you want sparkly then take it a shade towards "carbon". Its not like they don't have gallons of solid black sitting around - thats what my roof is painted with.

I'd really like to see the process on how MINI or any car company for that matter chooses the colors they do. I'd bet it's gets pretty heated at times.

I don't like Metalic Paint and I also hope "they" get the BRG right someday.
Twood be very nice to see on the road but I would never own a green car.

In spite of the long-standing color omissions, I think they've done rather well in "spicing things up" a bit!

While the new colors are great, I still wish Hot Orange (or similar) were offered on the Coupe (especially if MINI would offer it with the option of a silver roof).
