why do they keep talking about the great audio system. its the worst thing about my MCS!!!!

I just got my R56 and was very concerned about the HiFi; however, I have been very pleased with it. I think it varies a lot depending on the individual. Just my $.02

My old car stereo still has a tape deck. I'm sure I won't complain about the MINI's stereo.

 

It varies a lot depending on the particular cd/music, and I don't mean style. One cd sounds great, another okay, and another horrible. It seems the speakers just can't handle the head unit power.

 

A comment about the CNET review: The one negative comment is that the optional cd changer "probably" wouldn't be conveniently mounted. It mounts in the "special" dash compartment and is easily reached from the driver's seat. So, I guess MINI has no "downs".

 

Just spotted this as well, it is very good. Informs you on my things other people forget about while reviewing a car

 

i think whoever designed this stereo was also half deaf.

I've accepted my geek-ness long ago (on many levels ). It seems to be working for me so far. Wife now just shrugs off most of my oddness and the kids still think I'm fun!

 

Ya know it seems to get better with time .I'm hearing things on old cd's I"ve never heard on any of my other systems .Really seems to separate the instruments.

 

Well, if Sir Alec had his way no Minis would have stereos at all!!!
