I can't say that I remember seeing a magazine by that name, I couldn't say for sure.

 

I guess I am a collector. I have die-cast...about 35 now, tons of print literature from USA, Korea, Singapore, Germany, about 20 MINI tshirts from clubs and events, posters, flags, decals, pins, cups and mugs. All set up in my "MINI Shrine" as the other half calls it.

I'll throw my hat in the circle. I've been a Hot Wheels/diecast collector for a long time, and have a small collection of MINIs/Minis. Not too impressive...yet. And I'll be adding one major piece to my collection in the next couple months - a real MINI!

By the way, anyone have an extra '05 Hot Wheels Mini treasure hunt to trade?

 

Good luck finding the "05 Treasure Hunt. haven't heard of anyone finding them except those of us that got them at the K-Mart Collector day. and if you need anything else let me know. my Husband is a HW collector and can probably find it for you.

I am more of a "keeper" than a "collector".I do save all the adds and promotional stuff that I come across and now have quiet a bunch.. I do collect die cast and b/c I travel alot I get lucky sometimes and find some good ones, specially in China. I created the MTTS stickers and t-shirts and have some left, if anyone is interseted I can trade some for toys i don't have..just PMme and let me know what you got..

Oh look - a rule a day.

Call me a junior collector. Just a few models, but working with James' list to get all the MINI ads - I definitely do extras in the hopes of trading in on stuff I don't have.

 

Develop a main "theme" for your collection (Three more to come)

 

OK, I fess up. I accummulate die cast MINI and have some brochures from the States and Europe. I say accummulate because I break many of the collecting "rules". But I have probably 30 die cast MINIs of various scales. And I play with them. Now I feel guilty. (Not really).

 

I buy duplicates when I can. 1 to keep and display and one to play with. If I manage to get more than 2, well, then I have some to trade with other collectors.

 

Concentrate on a particular scale but don't be constrained! (Two more to come)

 

Particular scale? Nope. Particular car, absolutely.

 

I'll elaborate on the "rules" when I've got to 10 -- but when you're a collector of diecast with the thousands and thousands of cars available in such a wide range of scale you have to "concentrate on a particular scale" since it helps to collate and display the collection but nevertheless "don't be constrained!" I chose to concentrate on 1/43rd scale diecast --- but when it comes to certain cars namely those models of Jaguar, MG and Mini any scale will fit the bill. Call it a collection within a collection if you like.

 

They're "toys" after all -- have fun with them ---"play" with them!

Once in a while --- Give one of your collection to a child who shows an interest!

 

If I meet an interested kid while I happen to have a duplicate with me, I'll often give them a toy car, as long as the parent says it's ok.
