I bought one of these for my girlfriend's son the other day, since he's big into Hot Wheels right now, and his mama just got an '11 Cooper Clubman. When he opened it up, we discovered the body is plastic, and is removable from the chassis to show the interior detail. I decided I had to get another to redo. I found a few at Target, and tore into one.


I stripped the graphics with acetone.


I brush painted all the interior details. The roll cage hinges over to one side so it's easy to get under/around it. I spray painted the bottom, and brushed some acrylic flat clear to help keep it from chipping. I used acetone on the wheels to take the red and underlying silver off, and scuffed the tires.

 

Paint is Tamiya TS-9 British Green, with Tamiya TS-45 pearl white on the roof, and a few coats of Tamiya clear.

 

Sweet I will have to do the same. It is a shame I have a few of the same but they are from about 10 years ago and they are metal. One is the same color as the one you just painted.

I find it interesting/weird that on the Hot Wheels MINI, they painted the door handles, scuttles, and gas cap, but neglected the head and tail lights...

Hmm I saw that MINI Challenge car (in white and red though) for a dollar... But the quality seemed so crappy... Also in a MINI World magazine I saw an ad for modelzone.co.uk - good stuff but pricey.

 

Saw this yesterday at Target as well. Took a few shots of the packaging. A bit pricey for just the MINI (as stated before) and I didn't feel like giving my 2 year old Niece the 4 pack and stealing the MINI out if it. I'd kinda feel bad.

Picked up these 2 Hot Wheels and one Matchbox 3/29/12 at Target. It's the first time I'd seen this convertible from Matchbox.

Your best bet is the MINI dealer. I saw a limited selection, but still not color specific. Anyone who builds models could spray the exact color.

It looks like no JCW Clubman ( There are other Clubman models in the link above ).

Only JCW is the Hardtop R56.
