From the Sin City Club run to Prescott, they were nice enough to stop at the Mohawk MINI Mart.

And at the Kirkland Post Office.

On the way back from Phoenix, I checked out an out-of-the-way place called Cordes.

Only had to go on 7 miles of dirt road.

I like the B&W photo. Nice textures. (What are those things hanging on the wall?)

I know the left one is a spare tire cover, from a '37 Packard (I made the last part up). I think the right one is too.

Nice find Kurt.
Why am I getting this creepy feeling that those pesky pervasive power lines, poles and cables are following you around everywhere you photography.

That's Arizona, where only the most recent subdivisions have to put power underground. And maybe it's because there aren't big trees to block them?

I should check out some Indian ruins.

somebody wrote me on Myspace. I'm assuming it was referring to the photos I posted waaaay back in this thread of the Meat packing plant but it was seriously confusing. When I went to respond it said I needed to be their friend so I went to add them and it said I needed to know their last name...seriously...talk about a frustrating morning buzzkill. Soo not to look like a jerk I'm leaving a comment here in case they happen to check this thread. I tried.
shrugs
end transmission

ps
sorry if that sounded grumpy...I haven't had my coffee yet

Located In Downtown Petersburg VA Building originally dates back to early 1900's. It has been abandoned for over a decade now.

Holy cow...a friend of mine just sent me this video about the Meat Packing plant I posted picks of earlier in this thread. It would actually be pretty cool if they made it into a park. I was worried they were going to tear it down and put up condos so I'll take the lesser of 2 evils. We use to go out there in high school. I've been shot at there, they filmed some of the movie Cyborg there and I know people who's parents use to go out there.
craziness

Yep, StoopidGirl, it is a scale! And it works, too! I weighed my car (not my MINI, but my Subaru Forester) on it! Now I can pretend to be a DOT registered-car-weigh-person!

Anyway, here are a few of my favorites for anyone who's interested...

1. Tuberculosis hospital

2. Tuberculosis hospital

3. House in the woods. Road was abandoned when a reservoir flooded the valley.

4. Another random house in the woods.

5. Mental hospital - most of them in Massachusetts were closed in the early 1990's.

6. Farm building

7. Same farm building - stables.

8. Abandoned mansion in the Hudson Valley.

9. Same abandoned mansion. This place was taken by eminent domain by the state of New York in the 1960's, and promptly left to rot.

10. Another mental hospital. It will be torn down in the next couple of years.

11.

12. Abandoned canvas factory - raw materials.

13. Canvas factory

14. Canvas factory

15. Canvas factory

16. School building about to be torn down for condos

17. Chapel on one of the coastal South Carolina islands. It burned in the late 1800's.

18. Cool ceiling!

19. Stables

20. Abandoned carriage house

I love the abonded building photos, but I think a lot is being missed by some not being photographed in B&W...color vs. B&W would be great to see, and compare.
