Digital camera memory question
Digital camera memory question
I recently purchased a photo printer on the cheap. Heck it was free after the mail in rebate. Feature wise it ain't all that. It doesn't connect to your computer but only through the camer via pic bridge. But I ain't complaining though since I got it practically for free.
Anyways, to get around that shortcoming, I figured I could move/copy a picture file from my computer to my camera and then print it. But no luck. I tried to move/copy a picture file via Windows Explorer to my camera and all I got was some error message.
Is there anything I can do? I tried the same thing with the memory card in a card reader with no luck.

Did you try using the software that came with the camera? I've never tried going that direction before. Maybe radio shack has a connector that can mimic the pic bridge (not sure what that is - some kind of cable??) and connect the printer and computer. If not, maybe that's why it was cheap.
I just tested this out
Camera Pentax Optio S40
Memory Card - Sandisk 1GB
Sticking the card in the card reader shows that the photos are stored under
F:\DCIM\100pentx
The images are named IMGP0001.jpg onwards (actually the latest is IMGP8992.jpg).
I copied a few random .jpg images there and it seems that as long as the camera can preview them, the printer can see them
It would appear that the image needs to be in the correct format (jpeg), named impg0001.jpg onwards.
I successfully uploaded a 1024x768 image to the card an my pict-bridge printer recognized it.

Woohoo!!! Thanks. Now why didn't I think of that before?
On the program for my Canon camera, there's a upload function. That did the trick. MaxN: I even uploaded a file that I changed the file name from it's default name.
