Thanks! Yep, stuck on the windshield. Shot about 100 shots on this stretch. Recognize it?........Empire Grade.

A few more from yestarday. It SNOWED/ICED here in Texas. It is amazing...when someone says the word "ice" in Texas, everyone runs into their homes, and stays there...for DAYS. I was driving around today, and the streets are empty...all the restaurants are completely closed. I live in a ghost town! And to make matters worse...the electricity just went out for a few hours. Luckily, it just came back on...

Well, here are my shots from today. I got so bored, I figured I would play around with the camera...

Nice shots. I forget, do you have the CruiseCam mount, or a home-brew solution?

I'm still waiting for my CruiseCam to arrive (late Christmas present from Dad, if he hasn't forgotten *ahem*), but I did get my FilmTools suction cup mount on Monday. For short-term use, I can stick it to the sunroof:

I really need to get a wider lens...

Taken this weekend in Boston while riding shotgun.
My camera was on a monopod, ƒ/8 @ 1/13, ISO 200. I obviously had Jim's efforts in mind. :-)

Real nice photos everyone. I got the double CruiseCam for Christmas and I'm looking forward to doing video and time-lapse photography with it.

Have you seen this mount?

After mounting a video camera to the outside of a dragster, we tested the Sticky Pod up to 175MPH with virtually no troubles.

That statement's kind of missing the definitive air I'd rather see before attaching a thousand dollars worth of glass and plastic to it!

Playing again with the suction cup mount. Man, I sure wish it was warmer than 19º today...

I really like the first one.

However, in the second one, you can see the shadow of the mount .

Yeah, that's the downside to that shot. I was more excited with how the tire tread showed up, and the spray of snow from under it.

Jim, how're you mounting the camera for these that show the wipers? I tried that yesterday with my suction cup mount, but I wasn't able to point the camera back at the mount. Maybe I just didn't try hard enough (I'm not a huge fan of that head).

I'm sticking it right at the top of the windshield, just to the right of the rearview mirror. Then I just position the head so the camera "hangs" upside down, with the lens as close to the windshield as possible. I'm using a 10-20 mm lens, so I just fiddle around with the zoom to get as much of the car in the frame I want.

You guys are getting some really good looks

More suction cup mounts

The Amateur Photographers' thread on MINI2 brought another selection of mounts to my attention: Suction and Vacuum Mounts

I think I like the head better on that first one, especially with the extension for the mounting plate.

I could see getting another suction cup and tying two together to avoid having a single point of failure. I wonder if that might make it a little more rigid, too. The photos I took yesterday had some camera shake, but I was driving on a frozen dirt parking lot, albeit at very low speeds; would two cups help reduce that?

I did a run with the Ocean State club yesterday and took a bunch of pictures with the FilmTools mount. I'm not that crazy about how the individual images came out (see
/) but I was able to put together a short timelapse video: http://bravo5.org/blog/2007/01/28/a-quicktime-timelapse/
