Dad and Daughter, A Homecoming...

A couple from a series I did this weekend. Very cool shots especially because of the emotion involved in seeing your child for the first time, or for a long time, after being deployed. It is really cool to see the emotions of a proper, "tough" Soldier when a baby is in his arms!

The sitting with him and his daughter was to consist of the first photos I haven't yet edited. A basic holding of my new baby pose. But while I was talking with his Mother he was keeping his daughter occupied, as well as loving her in his arms. I turned around, thankfully with camera in hand, and shot. Now the lighting was set and focused for him sitting, thankfully they were positioned good enough not to blow the little one out too much, as for a not planned pose, they came out pretty good I think.

The look and the babies face is priceless!

Beautiful photos! What kind of camera did you use? Also, I noticed you are in Fresno, do you do fashion stuff like for catalogs?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

To answer a few questions:

abuzavi- YES all the costs were taken care of by myself and my family.

MiniChik- This was done with my Nikon D200, 2 AB800 Lights one with umbrella one with Softbox, on location not in my studio. Yes I am in Fresno, and I do quite a bit of fashion shots, nothign for catalogues yet though.

Outstanding photos Lee; the Dad will obviously treasure these photos!

Did you bring a drop cloth with you to the location or something like that to black out the background?

I had my 10x20 backdrop on a rod set up and the AB800 lights. I was shooting at a Church Festival.

Oh, that's cool. I'm in Fresno too and I do marketing and advertising. We just did a shoot for two catalogs, basic stuff...promotional T-shirts and hats. I wasn't thrilled with the final images from the photographer we used. It's not something we do often but I'll keep you in mind if we do it again.
