Looks ok
I think the purest's will not be that keen imo
The price too is a bit steep - if your gonna fake dof then you can achieve similar results in ps and save the money
If the price was -£100 mark then id be sucked in :D
plus its the most bizarre looking lense ive ever seen

On the ontrary I think purists will greatly favor the lensbaby over photoshop. I certainly do. I always want to get one but agree the price is too steep for essentially a zero-element lens. I wonder if I can make one out of some tubing from home depot?
Lensbabies are the world's cheapest tilt-shift lenses.
Generally tilt-shift lenses are used to correct for perspective, to keep lines from converging toward a vanishing point, but it's much more interesting to use them to create "problems" like you see in the Lensbaby photos.

The lenses can also tilt, which lets you move the optical axis away from the perpendicular of the film plane. Normally the optical axis of a lens is precisely perpendicular (90°) from the film surface, but tilt lenses let you alter this angle, which is useful for altering what parts of an image are within the depth of field and are thus in focus.
I see you're already having fun with it, Jim! Glad you got it. I like the shots.
I tend to be a "purist" and I think they're great. Trying to get a similar effect by faking it in PS would be pretty difficult, IMO. Doing it in-camera is a lot more fun. And if you want to see strange looking, check out the Lensbaby 3G!

Those are cool pics Jim. I like how the light falls on the steering wheel.
Whoah! I checked out the site and noticed the 3G, and it is definitely expensive! (glad I got an original when I did)
How much were they? The average tilt shift I see is about 10x the cost.
The Lensbaby 3G is $270, the 2.0 $150, and the Original $96. The effect is a bit different than what you'd get with a "regular" tilt-shift lens: you get an area of focus rather than a complete plane of sharp focus. So it's not quite a replacement for a tilt-shift lens but more its own thing and very nice, IMO. I've got the 2.0.

I'd say the lensbaby is a bit more of a cross between a tilt-shift camera and a controllable quality Holga. It's a retro-grouch fan type of lens that forces you to slow down and shoot with manual focus and exposure. It would be a complete PITA to try and damage your photos in photochomp to achieve the same look. My $.02, I get to have as much creative fun as friends with Holgas, yet none of the hassles with film and all the benefits of digital.
B&H Photo has a nice review of the Lensbaby 3G here.
I joined Jimz68 last Saturday and this is what I came up with using my lensbaby on the Ferrari Challenge Stradale duo that was present.

I also brought my fish eye lens and experimented with it too...
Why does this remind me of a Joe Camel advertisement?

I love how this makes Jimz68's MCS look truncated.
