miniDV recommendations
I am looking for a miniDV camara so i can take some video. Price is important, I want cheap. I would like to be able to use filters and analog in so I could possibly use the vacucam in the future. I have a friend that has a Canon ZR70MC and is happy with that. I am not looking for something that is perfect, but something that will take good video. I am headed to the dragon again in two weeks and would like to get it on film.
Thanks,
Sean

I just helped a few others buy some. The brands etc depend a lot on your price range.
I think the most important advice is to look at video resolution. Some of the cheaper ones really hold back.
Go over to crutchfield.com (even if you don't plan on buying from them), and use their compare feature to look at several models in your price range, maybe a little above as you can find them cheaper elsewhere. Pay special attention to the effective pixels line.

I picked up a Canon ZR45MC off eBay for less than $100. I've been fooling around with it & the VacuCam that I won in the April contest, but I haven't spent a whole lot of time with it. It was cheap (almost disposable) & has a LANC input, the ZR70MC doesn't have LANC.
I used the helmet cam compatibility pages as a guide for which models have analog in & LANC...

I have used my Sony DCR-PC105 for 5 years, and have over 1000 skydives with it. No problems to date.
Any of the sony DCR, or TVR cameras will last a really long time, and have lots of ways to connect to TVs, or computers for copying, or firewiring to other cameras, or computers.
here is a PC5 on ebay for less that $500 http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-DCR-PC5-Min...QQcmdZViewItem
