Dumb luck.
The only thing special about that shot is the light, which I happened to find in a parking garage near where I live. The camera was a Canon Rebel XT with the 18-55mm "kit" lens, on a tripod, with a wired remote release, to avoid shaking the camera. I might have tweaked the contrast a little bit to make the dark areas darker, but that's about the extend of any post-processing I do. The settings are revealed on the Flickr page: 1 second exposure at ƒ/10, 18mm focal length, ISO 200.

All of my pictures link back to their respective pages on Flickr, as well. I wrote a little bookmarklet to do that

Great night pics, everyone!
I have an older Cannon EOS Rebel G (?) that i got from a friend of mine. I used it for a beginners photography class but all of our work was taken during the daytime. I cant seem to get lighting to work at night.
Any suggestions? Please PM me.

This is my first attempt at HDR. All I have done so far is merged the images I havent done any touch ups or anything like that yet.
The story: I was on my way home from life guarding and thought I saw some alien space craft in the sky, turned out they were spot light beams reflecting off the clouds. I hunted down the lights and when I saw them I instantly thought "HDR would work well here". This was shot with an Olympus e-500, focal length of 19mm (38mm effective), f-stop at 3.5 and ISO 400/800.

Thought I'd sneak one in here. This is the first night photo I have ever taken that actually turned out decent.
From AMVIV in the staging area for the Strip run.

Not bad considering no tripod.

haddes, that's a sharp looking R56.
I really like the setting you've got your car in. I can't help but wonder what needed to be blurred out on the top portion of some of the photos.
Look forward to seeing more photos from you!
