Thought I'd Share

My pictures aren't quite the caliber that some of y'all are posting here, but I thought I'd share some that I took during a DFW Metroplex MINI fun run.

Let me know what ya think!

Looks good. Keep up the shooting... its how you get better. Great thing about shooting the MINI... its a great subject and they dont move (unless you make 'em)

Of the two the first shot is my favorite, but there are a couple things you could have done to make it even better.
1) Fill Flash - Use your flash when you took the picture to fill in the shadow area on the first car.
2) Either picked up some of the leaves in front of the cars OR photoshopped them out after the fact.

As for things you have less control over, those Texas registration decals are a little obnoxious.

You might also try doing a B&W conversion.

Again, I think it's a good shot, just some things I'd try in the future.

Thanks for the suggestions DiD.

I was working on a clean-up that included PS-ing the leaves out, but got side-tracked and didn't finish. PS-ing the reg decals out of the picture may be beyond my current PS skill-level.

One of these days when we get 8-10 cars together again, I'd like to work on a better composition where the line of MINIs are more uniformly parked and you can see just about the same amount of the front-end of each car.

Shooting isn't the problem...especially now that I have found something that I love (and love to photograph).

Eventually, I'd like to try some of the motion shots!

You've probably seen the best of the ones that I took at the DFW MM site (http://www.metroplexmini.org/forum/s...?t=7308&page=4).

P/S-ing the decals need not require much skill, rather patience.
However, those registration stickers, and their placement, are regional to you's part of the country. My wife is a Chicagoan and for her, those city stickers are a matter of pride. I don't know what y'all in Texas require, but I'd be cocky and leave it in- for fellow Texans.

I too like the first shot. If I'd P/S anything, it'd be the antenna on the cabrio and the one sticking out to the right of it.

Question: What are all those black spots above the fence?

All in all, I'd say you're doing great. I'm anxious to see more of your work.

WOW, I didn't even notice that...it's a poor PS cloning job I was trying to clone out all of the foilage and the house that was back there.

Thanks for the encouragement!

How about posting the original of that first pic?
(as a benchmark)

I know, I know, it's taking a risk, but shoot, might as well whip it out for comaprison.

Could it be that you've driven a few of them at other outings?

We missed you, JDS. This was a good run.

Nice work DiD. It's a little TOO much contrast for my taste, but I like the clean up.

PS. I like the shot in your sig. I've been using it for my wallpaper (thanks MotoringFile).

Don't mind at all. I like yours better than what I did. You can tell that the cars are supposed to be different colors more so with yours than with my BW conversion.

Yeah, it is a bit too contrasty but it was also a quick edit, so I'd probably tone that down a touch if I were really going to spend more time with it.

I'm glad you like the MotoringFile wallpaper.
