Suction Cup Cam Catches a Spin [VID]

My first run at our last autocross was a bit of an adventure. Went a bit too fast into the middle slalom and whoooohooooo.

Its the first video on the top of the page.

ENjoy!

I'm still waiting for the movie to download, but I was wondering--are these encoded with the standard DivX or the DivX Pro?? Just curious if the claimed 30% improvement is truly that much. The last encoding I did using the standard DivX looked worse than a WM9 encoding at a higher bitrate but same final resulting size. (30MB file)

Thanks

I'm using the evaluation period version of Divx Pro and really don't see much of an improvement. Its all being done by Premeire 6.0. I've also noticed that sometimes you can get better quality out of WM9 at the same file size.

I think the best way to almost cut the file size in half would be to make the audio Mp3 but for some reason it doesn't work with my copy of Premeire 6.0. I should be getting Premeire Pro soon and hopefully it works there.

The biggest thing that ticks me off is i see websites with great clear Divx video around the same length as mine but with the same file size. I just understand since i've tried tons of different settings in Divx.

any chance you can post those as Quicktime or Windows Media?
I am way too lazy to go and get a DiVx player, I used to have one but its just a pain. Might get more viewers too!!

Just a thought

You don't need the divx player to watch the video, just the Divx codec. Its pretty much a standard these days as its one of the best ways to get quality up while keeping file sizes down. www.divx.com

As stated above it could probably be around the same size in WMV but there are alot of others in the world getting much better quality out of very small file sizes with Divx, i just have to find how to do it.

Sorry but saying "hey could you use something else other than Divx" is like saying could you use wav instead of MP3.

Had my adrenaline up just watching!

Not quite. I've never even heard of the Divx format, so downloading it just to watch one spinout video doesn't seem worthwhile. I guarantee if you had this in .wmv format, you'd have ten times as many views by now.

Divx is a VERY popular format/codec and its a very small download at www.divx.com.

Sorry but i would beleive your in a bit of the Minority when it comes to internet savy people in not ever hearing about divx.

Luckily no damage at all to the car, went and did another run 10 minutes later. Sadly that same day though a WRX STi ended up in a tree.....

Yeah, just backing up the above poster's correction about DivX. It's been around for years now, maybe 3-4? And it's been extremely popular. It was commonly used for a long time to re-size DVD movies to fit on a 700MB CD, and still look fairly good. Many stand-alone DVD players for TV's, etc., were capable of playing DivX encoded movies as well.

Oh, cool videos too =) I enjoyed them quite a bit.
