Fuji Finepix S5000 Question
Fuji Finepix S5000 Question
This camera is on sale for $299 and it appears to be a pretty good deal and within my budget. Does anybody here own this model and if so, what do you think of it? I am a real estate appraiser but I also attend quite a few car shows and do a fair amount of Ebaying. I would like a good all around camera and this appears to fit the ticket. Opinions?

You might try reading some other review over there too.
FWIW, the S5000 is only 3 MP. If I were looking for a compact P&S, I'd get a 4 MP camera, mostly because 4 MP is pretty affordable still and improves resolution on the off chance you make prints (say 8 by 10s). Also, a 4 MP camera would allow you to enter the NAM Calendar Contest, were a 3 MP camera wouldn't have enough resolution.

Check it out I have a Fuji Fine Pix 4800 Fujis uses triangles not hexigons like most cameras therefore a 2.8 meg pix shot converts to a 4.3 meg shot as the triangles interlock beter than the hexigons also fuji for some reason takes a much more vivid color photo than both of my Sony cyber cams. The color is remarkable with my fuji so much so I gave my wife one sony and my 9 yr old son my other.
Comes with a docking station and works as a web cam it simply rocks.
I know some people say how can that be but it really is. I give Fuji 6 out of 5 stars on photo quality. Ease of use 4 out of 5 only cuz my wife gets confused by it. Software 4 out of 5, looks 5 of 5.
Plus I love the software its really easy and does some killer stuff. My brother in law has the one you want and its smoking for that price. Mine on the other hand was designed by FA Porsche and looks really cool but is very slippery.
Good Luck

I went ahead and bought the S5000. I don't care much about the pixels at the moment because I am upgrading from a camera with 1.6 and that was plenty for my purpose. I use my camera for real estate appraising and the occasional car show. High definition photos in my reports, which I email, would take too long to upload - not to mention my clients may not be too happy when they are downloading 30 to 50 photos on the other end.
I do, however, plan to get a good quality camera in the future that I would never use for work. I would like to get a nice digital SLR with all the bells and whistles. My S/O and I like to go bird watching at the nature preserve and I would like to photograph some of the birds.
I am pretty happy with the deal I got on this camera. It was on clearance at Radio Shack for $299 and I got a 256 XD card at Costco for $69.
