My 03 Dark Silver R53

Picked this up on Thanksgiving day.

Went from this:

Then blacked out the scoop, headlight rings. Installed a set of 17x7 +40 Focal F-10 wheels, wrapped in 205/40/17 GE UHP Tires. Also got the windows tinted to 5% all around.

Installed gloss black upper/lower grilles.

Just got done installing an Alta V2 CAI tonight. Difference is crazy! Performace gain is awesome, and the sound is even better! Love that supercharger whine!

Next up will probably be H&R springs, and some exhaust of my choosing.

Looks sick, especially like the wheels. Nice work!

Welcome aboard. Wait until you change the pulley. That really wakes it up.

Welcome! It looks nice. What did you use to black out the headlight rings?

Headlight rings / scoop were done using Plasti-Dip. Extremely easy to use, and peels right off if you messed up or don't like the look anymore.

Thanks for the positive comments guys!

Very cool. I have been wanting to tint my tails as well. What did you use to do yours?

Some Updates:

Installed projector headlights, and color matched the headlight rings:

Then I got my Tein S-Tech Springs, and lowered it:

Since lowering, I've done the One-Ball Mod. Loving it thus far!

Once you buy Plasti-dip, youll never want to paint again! Car looks great, loving the tinted taillights, its the same thing I did to my MINI. Keep up the good work.

Next mods will be a 19mm RSB, 16% Pulley, 1 step colder plugs, Boost Gauge.

Also need to throw in some new LCA bushings in the mix sometime.

We'll pretty much have the same mods on our MINI's, a nice Miltek exhaust would sound a lot better then the one ball mod, it just costs a sh*t ton. I get kind of iffy when thinking on installing a RSB, do you think it'd give more unwanted sounds since its stiffening the suspension? Other then that choices.

Honestly, I don't think a few squeaks and creeks are anything to worry about. It's a performance car, and squeaks/creeks are to be expected with stiff suspension on a sports/handling vehicle.

I heard its the #2 mod to do after the pulley, so there's gotta be a reason that people love it!

Wow, I never knew that. I'm totally new to NAM and was always thinking the exhaust was the number 2 mod. Could you give me some other things, such as #3, #4 top pic mods so I may have a little better knowledge

Finally had 30 minutes to install the beltline blackout kit!

Thinking about painting the wheels Duplicolor Grabber Green very soon...I think it'd look awesome against dark silver!!

(quick mspaint job)

And here's a WRX with the wheels painted Duplicolor Grabber Green

What do you guys think!?

Looks great, it only took you 30 minutes to put on the blackout kit!?
How did you do it & purchase it from?

As for the wheels, i think theres just to many different colors on the vehicle

Yup, blackout kit was super easy! www.outmotoring.com is where I ordered the kit, it was like $14 shipped? Came in 3 days!

It's just a tape that applies, and it's a teeny bit thicker than the chrome, so it's pretty hard to mess it up.

Idk, I really love the look of the green wheels with the color matched headlight shrouds..such a hard decision!

Car looks good with the ds/black and white roof. But I don't like the green wheels. I think you should paint it matte black to match with the black headlights/tails.

My old car (2005 Neon SRT-4) had gloss black wheels, and I really wanted something bright for this car. I'm in love with the green now, and will be doing green accents here and there, little by little. Will start by painting the "S" in the scuttles green, and go from there.

I have now fell in love with the color, and can't stop staring at my car when I go outside!

if you painted your roof green it might be cool, but as of no wi am not a fan of those wheels. They don't match anything on the car.

I'll be doing a few green touches here and there....The "S" on the scuttle will be green, and I may do green mirror caps.

I love it though..had a little kid walking into a grocery store whisper to his dad "Dad, look at those wheels!" haha.

I love the green wheels. I've been debating getting some green wheels, but my mini is astro black. Don't think the green would fit in with the bluish/purplish toned black... Might go orange.

That blue wrx looks terrible with the green.

What was your prep work and procedure that you managed to paint wheels in 4 hours? And with the tires on?

Can't wait to see what else is coming next.
