Plus, after looking at several of Kurt's photos at full resolution, I've realized that his technologically advanced camera must have some ultra secret car detection dust and dirt removal algorithms in it. I can't find this setting on any of my smancy cameras which always fully reveal just how filthy my car is.
Naw! It's the car color. And the low light (vs. noon sun) must help. Still, this $200 camera does pretty well, AND it fits in my pocket! (I'de like to see you stuff a telephoto in your pants)

Are you happy to see me, or do you have a camera in your pants?

That sounds kindda Captain Planet-like, so I don't know how I feel about that. Especially cuz I wouldn't know what people would do for "Heart".

I realize that I just revealed my age here so for those not familiar with Captain Planet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Planet

Fire and Air could be interesting though.. we'll see.

Good excuse...

...to drive dirt roads!

The real reason I drove this dirt road was to work the Prescott Rally.

Perhaps I can do something with this topic....we have only had 1.5 inches of rain since August 1st, so there's plenty of dirt around here! Who would have thought the drought would work to someone's advantage?!

That's what I was thinking when I proposed this month's topic. No excuses from anyone such as "oooh, my car's too dirty and I didn't have time to detail it to enter..."

More attempts

I'm freakin' nuts!:impatient Look at the washboard, and this isn't the worst part. Would have liked to get more of a dust trail, but...

Going the other way didn't help.

Figures, the shot from post #13 is looking better.

Another attempt:

Understated sign.

This is the smoother section of Old Black Canyon Highway (first road before AZ69 was built just beyond that ridgeline.

An outake. I think I'm getting the hang of aiming the camera. Kind of exciting when I'm still accelerating in 3rd gear and start drifting in this turn.

At work now so I will miss the deadline. The pic did not turn out well. We finally got some rain and the gravel (dirt) road looked paved as the gravel was well washed. I post the pic after the contest just for grins. Yes the two dogs were back...

I held off until the voting was over (kind of glad I did). I was hoping to get a better set of pictures as I was rushed when I took these. Never go some where to take pictures if you do not have time to do it correctly. There was a better spot a bit up the road that showed more fall color but it was very narrow and the road - though dirt and gravel - is traveled. The good spot is very narrow and I would have had to pack up if someone wanted to get by. I should have shot a few shots raw as well. I took about 20 pictures and came up with three I liked. Here is the link to the other two http://dac.smugmug.com/gallery/3750574#215692024 .

Driver vs Navigator
