So far only 3 MINIs are registered in Flint. I was wondering if anyone would like to have a lil get-together sometime this Holiday? I was thinking we could all meet somewhere around Auburn Hills for drinks, convo, and motoring!

I'm over on the West side of MI. A MMMC sounds great, but can't make a run until March 03.

If there are three MINIs registered in Flint, any idea on MI in total? Have you experienced service from our MI MINI dealer, okay?

I am not sure how many MINIs are registered in Michigan total. That would be an interesting number. I don't think there are very MINI.

Yea!!!

More MINIs in Michigan

I've driven about 1500 miles throughout the Metro Detroit area and have only encountered 3 MINI's on the road (one had out of state plates). Either I drive at odd hours or everyone has garaged their MINI.

Here's one in the Ann Arbor area! I've seen one other in the area (a red cooper). Not too many yet, I think. I also bought from Motor City Mini, and Dave Harting helped me out. Did a great job, too.

After reading the nightmare reports from other dealers (at least on the sales side), I think we were very lucky.

It would be great to have a MMMC gathering soon. After the Holidays are through we will plan something for us all to meet. It would be a lot of fun talking MINI, drinks, and motoring.

I live in St. Clair Shores and have seen 5 minis around town.
2 Red MCs, 2 Indy Blue MCs and a Dark Silver MCS.
Could be because we are so close to Eastpointe and Motor City Mini.
My wife saw a Silk Green today in Grosse Pointe and
I have seen several others in a variety of colors around the metro area as well.

As for a get together and drive... I'm up for it. I love driving this thing.

I'm expecting my Dark Silver MCS by the end of this month or early next year, so count me in for a get together. Its currently on a boat somewhere in between the UK and the US. A friend of mine also has a MCS on order, so I'll bring him along if he can make it.

I ordered mine through Classis MINI in Mentor, OH. They were able to deliver what I wanted, pretty much when I wanted it. Their sales staff has done a great job, answering all my many questions and inquiries. I had a phone conversation with David Green of Motor City Mini and, in my opinion, he wasn't very courteous at all. I think the fact he is a little short staffed there might be the explanation.

My very first experience with David was very similar to what you had. He was not very interested in helping me out, and was very stressed out. I pass it along to so many people wanting his attention and to buy a product that he frankley doesn't have available. (many people want the MCS) So, it's a situation that many car dealers don't have the pleasure of dealing with - too many people, too little cars. He doesn't have to do anything special to get people interested in his product. If you have a chance to meet him, give him another chance. He is very dedicated to MINI and has a wealth of knowledge. I was very impressed with his professionalism and paitence.

Realizing David Green is over-worked / under-staffed / under-inventoried, has anybody experienced the service department at Motor City Mini? Faster, not slower / Better, not worse / More value, not less.

Wondering if I should go to Bill Jacobs Mini in Naperville, IL (where I'll put my $ down) or Motor City Mini as being in Kalamazoo is a ~15 mile difference?

I took my Cooper into MCM so they could check out my creaky driver's seat.
They service manager was very helpful. He wanted to keep the car all day so they could pull the seat and troubleshoot it but I couldn't do that on that particular day. He then offered to have someone give me a lift to and from work but since I had something going on after work I declined and said I would rescedule for a day I could leave it.

All in all I feel it was a good experience.

David told me that the service manager is not really that busy right now, because they have only been selling cars for such a short time. It should be pretty easy to get in and out quickly. As for getting your car, he told me yesterday that despite the production cut back, he can still order the Coopers pretty fast - it's the MCS that will take quite a while. (That is, unless someone cancels an order and you want the vehicle canceled, that's how I got mine) If you are willing to do that, I would just call him and tell him what you are looking for, and if something like that happens, to just give you a call. Sometimes, he recieves demo cars that are reduced in price. The day I bought mine, someone else I had just bought a field rep's MC (4K Miles) for $17,800 out the door. Not bad.

I'm going to be taking the MINI to MCM for service (once I have it), so it's good to hear they aren't too busy right now, and they seem to really want to take care of the customers (offering to give you a ride to and back from work). It looks like I will be getting my MCS in about 2 and a half months. I ordered it on October 20th, or there about, and it looks like I'll be taking delivery at the end of the month, or early in January. Not too bad if you ask me.

Indy Blue (white roof/mirrors-not wheels-never stripes) in Dearborn! I picked up mine from Motor City Mini on November 1st (David had one available off the lot because so many people refuse the manual trans!). I have not seen a SINGLE Mini since.
They must be pretty rare in these parts. I parked at Eastern Market for the Lions game yesterday, and within 30 seconds over 100 tailgaters had swarmed the car. Unbelievable!

Wow, the onslaught of all those interested people (MINI-Watchers) as you parked at the game is just another reason to be MINI-Ready with all the latest scoop and inside facts from MCO (or MINI2).

What was the number one question?

I can probably help out with some of the web design work. I'm not a pro or anything, but I can setup a site pretty decently.

Numer One Question: What is it?
Number Two Question: What's the gas mileage?
Number Three Question: How much?

It's interesting to see that there is another Yellow S right nearby in Saline. Hope to see you on the road around Ann Arbor.

So cool to see so many new MINI owners from Michigan! I can only imagine taking a MINI to a Lions game. That was probably the most interesting thing those rubbernecks saw all day, definatly not the Lions performance. YUCK! Anyways...don't get me started on that. Our first meet will take place in January. I am still working on a time and place. Does anyone have connections some place, or have a preference of where we can meet?

How was everyone's Christmas??? I've been looking for a chance for us to get out and motor together, but the weather has been uncooperative. I wonder if they make MINI skis??

Meenee Coopah,

How many takers for a MMMC? Would March be a good time for a get together?
