Track Day/Driving School October 12th at Gingerman
OK, Folks. I just got off the phone with Harry Cash (aka Late Apex). He posted about this a couple weeks back, but no one seemed interested, I guess.
There's a Driving School next weekend on Sunday, October 12th at Gingerman in South Haven, Michigan. This track looks really cool, and very safe with basically no walls...just lots and lots of grass! There will be at least a half dozen instructors (it depends on how many Novices are present), including a couple of SCCA champions.
There will be three groups, I would assume that pretty much everyone on this board will fall into either Novice or Intermediate. Novices will have class for most of the morning, and then spend the afternoon on the track, while Intermediates and Experts will basically be on the track all day, although it's understood that Intermediates desiring instruction will have it made available to them as well. Track sessions will be 20 minutes long with 40 minute breaks between (three groups X 20 minutes per group = once an hour!). There will be a touring session during our lunch break (a good time to take the spouse/buddy out for a spin!) Intermediates should get a minimum of 6 sessions on the track, although depending on the final numbers, there could be "mixed" groups in the afternoon, and hence more track opportunities.
The really great thing about this? They've agreed to let in all of us MINI folks at the S2000 Club price of only $135 for the day! All late fees are being waved, so that's it, $135 gets you a high quality day at a really nice track. So far there are quite a few S2000s, a couple of EVOs and WRXs, a Bimmer or two and some miscellany. Sounds like a good group!

Maxwell,
Thanks for the info. Unfortunatly, I have a prior commitment that weekend and won't be able to make it. This sucks, because the price is so good!
I really do want to run at Gingerman; I've heard it's a great track. Maybe this spring perhaps?

So that's it, huh? 29 views and one response. I take it that I'm the only one going...
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to bear the burden of MINI-representing alone!
Somebody's gotta show up those Hondas!

So you're gonna take an extra track day? Now how am I gonna catch ya in St. Looey? Also as I said b4, I'm gonna be in Chitown this weekend. If the Cubs sweep the series or win in five (sat or sun) you want to go tip over some SUVs and burn em with me?
Anyway...I have your cell # and will be in the loop. You still up for grabbin some cold ones?

Hmmm...I forgot the dates that you'll be here...I'll be heading to Michigan as soon as I get off work on Saturday, but I would be down for a Friday night thing. I get off work around 10 or 11...any other Chicago MINI Motorers are welcome to join us.
