Similar question(s) here to my Deal's Gap post earlier...who's been to this sort of thing before and what should us "n00bs" expect? Should we be doing anything special since it's so close to "home" for us midwesterners? How early ought we be making reservations?

We have been to Mini Meet East for the past two years and have had very good experiences. It is true that more Minis have shown up than MINIs but the Charleston trip was a lot of fun getting to meet a lot of new MINI owners in a beautiful setting. Our trip to Magog Canada was more lonely as there were not many MINI owners present...making it easier to win awards...and it has been reported in another thread how the MINI owners were mistreated. We were never mistreated and only one MINI owner felt that they wished they had not come. I am excited about East Meets West as it is being planned from the get go by folks that have Minis and MINIs so the MINI owners should feel confident that they will be equally welcomed as the Mini owners. I would love to see as many MINIs there as Minis and plenty of vendors for both. Let's get behind the group that is planning this event and pull MINIs in from both coasts as well as the heartland.
