Yosemite / Lee Vining run Oct. 8th
See everyone in a bit.
I had a BLAST!
We all did
A BIG Shout Out to Brian & Yancy for conducting this tour.
Great Job
The weather was Great the roads and traffic were fine. The scenery!
Well, we met at the O'Neil's Park & Ride at Road 200.
I was late of course.
About 8:15.
We left right away and drove to Oakhurst and invaded the Starbucks, to empty out and fill up again. We met up with a few new members too! Dr. Sue and another couple that I did not get their names. Steve Tech, Willum & his wife and Dusty and his wife.
Then we were off. the run up to the gate was fun and relatively quick. the Traffic was not bad at all. Most folk saw us coming and GOT OUT OF THE WAY! Some of US have never been to Yosemite. Some of us are Virgins and have never been to a National Park.
We met up with George & his wife well on our way down 120.
The sky was sooo clear the water was soooo Blue at Tenaya & Tioga Lakes.
There is some snow from the last rain at the higher elevations already.
We zoomed as fast as we could across the mountains. At one point I slowed down to do some sight seeing and Michell got on the Radio to tell me to "cut loose the trailer I was dragging". Soo ..We got to the Mobile station right around noon? I'm not sure. The Whoa Nelly Deli is one of a kind. It is great. Everyone should experience it at least once. The food was wonderful. We ate outside at the picnic tables. We got a great group photo. No ones posted any pics yet. Kevin, Dusty?
Like all of our runs so far we're doing this one again when the snow melts and they open Tioga Pass. Next time we'll stop in Lee Vining, drive over to Bodi, maybe the hot springs. Who knows. We might even take the long way home and take 395 back to Bakersfield and then back home
The drive home was good. A bit more traffic, so we couldn't go as fast as we wanted. We did stop for a potty break and while we ere waiting one of the Rangers came over to inquire where were from and so on. He seemed to admire the cars. We joked a bit and finally Brian asked if the Rangerwas going to be driving off any time soon. The Ranger replied that he was and Brian asked if he would give us a 15 minute head start.
We cruised back out the South gate and down to Oakhurst. Steve and Steve Tech peeled off. Dj headed back to Fresno.
The rest of us headed down to Chuckchansi Casino.
I'm a virgin. I've never been there.
We were parched after such a long day. BEER! Lavida, Vicki, Brad, Michelle, Me, Kevin, Nick & Shelly.
I won $21.22 on a $2.00 bet on the first pull at a slot!!!
I got up and walked away. That paid for my Park entry fee.
I headed home shortly after. Nine hours of Driving with Friends! That's how I remember the day.

Oh, Brad and Kevin, did you get your pics developed? If so, please post some here.
Michele,
Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts is planning a Yosemite/Kings Canyon run for Labor Day (August 31-Sept. 3) 2007. It would be great if you guys would join us. We would love the company and "local" area knowledge.

Kings Canyon is a great run with alot of hair pin turns.
Thank you Brian and Yancey for the $2 tour.
This had to have been one of the Best ride I've been on.
Chuckchanci was fun. I lost darn near ten bucks. It's ok though, watching Lavida win her money back (plus some) was a blast. People were starting to gather around to see as if she won two million dollars.
I have yet to learn how to post pictures on here. I'll take the media in to the photo lab to be put on a CD tomorrow.

Stay'd on 120 out through GreeleyHill (some nice twisty's w/no traffic) 'n Coulterville to Modesto......420mi later, home about 6pm. Great weather, great roads, great friends, ...........Most excellent day

Ah...should have joined-in but had stuff on Saturday and Monday and just to get to the area would have been 5 or so hours.
Next time we'll be there...for Mini's and since we have yet to see Yosemite!
