Does anyone know a local classic mechanic?
Well, the classic Mini is still running strong, but I'd like to have a "real" professional look the car over before winter arrives. I don't know how long it's been since the car had a proper brakes/suspension/valve/clutch/other check-up and tune, and I figure I can either fumble my way through the Haynes book OR I can have a pro with proper tools take a look and advise me on future trouble spots.
I figure this way maybe I can actually plan ahead for upcoming repairs rather than wait for the car to fail and strand me someplace. I know... getting stranded beside the road is a very "British car" experience, but then again I'm told that so is putting up with oil leaks, and I broke with tradition and fixed that issue right quick...
I have spoken with a guy that Chuck and Paul Strieby recommended (Eric Jones) but he's retired and is only doing gearbox bench work now. Eric has been a great source of advice, but I kinda need someone that can actually look and advise me, if you know what I mean.
Does anyone know of a proper garage with mechanic(s) that know their way around the classic here in central Ohio? I know that Way over ay Way Motor Works does work on classics, but he's in Indianapolis.
That or we can have a "classic hammer bash" DIY party at my place sometime... I know Chuck knows his way around a spanner and BFH.
