Aloha, mid-Atlantic folks, just thought I'd make a post and ask about what choices are available as far as MINI service in the DC area. I will be transferring to the area this fall and would like to have some recommendations as to where to take my precious Lucy if she has any problems. I did do a search on "service" on this forum, but I am not familiar with the East coast at all and "mid-Atlantic" covers a lot more real estate than Hawaii!

Should be shipping Lucy to the area sometime in September ... just in time to get her ready for winter. Does the temperature drop below 50 degrees very often? Because Lucy's not used to that.

Mucho mahalos,

MINIangelD

Lucy - 2003 S, EB/B, stripes, HK, sports package, premium package, Wet Okole seat covers, some chrome, some other stuff, and a perky attitude She loves auto-x! She's always dragging me out there.

I don't know where I'll be living yet, but I've been checking out places (on-line) between DC and Baltimore (Columbia, Laurel, Glen Burnie, etc). I won't be working in either DC or Baltimore (thank heavens!). I'm transferring to the area due to my job, and I will probably be in the area for at least several years.

Aloha brah!

When you're in the area PM/email me. I'll show you where all the locals get the good grinds.

LOL.

Sterling isn't that bad. They charge a premium price, but they stand behind their work.

They will also install ALL mods and honor the warranty.

Oops!

Sorry about that. Didn't know you were a "wahine." LOL.

Things to know about the Mainland -

They don't sell egg's/portugeuse sausage/and rice at McDonalds.
They don't have Zippy's here.
They don't like Spam.
It's not Saimin - it's Ramen noodles.

There's a bunch more that I had to get used to, but you get the idea.

Let us know when you get out here.

Aloha!

Sterling does very nice servicing, Gene Chun is very helpful, tho it is cheaper to buy mini in MD near annapolis, they are very freindly btu it's quite a drive to get serivce done, but depending where you live when you get here it maybe closer.. the one thing you HAVE to do is stay away from the BMW delar in Alexandria, they have been known to buy mini at auction or from other dealer mark them up ( like 100,000$$$) or so, even try and sell old imported minis as new ones... they are just a bunch of shady creatures over there... sterling people are just straight up all the way and the owner is a hell of a guy. we have soem very nice moutain runs especially down off rte 29. Welcoem to this coast... there a good chance 'll be heading to that one

BTW if you get a chance if you've never been to virgina, then I highly suggest going (about 3 hours depending on where you are ) to coloinal williamsburg, jamestown and yorktown, busch gardens not only can you see so great attractions and history, but you can get on the coloinal parkway, and drive it from yorktwon to james town it a great mini drive

Thanks for all the info, folks. One thing I am very much looking forward to is cruising around checking out all the new scenery. I've heard good things about all the "colonial" sites, and I do like historical stuff (like to stop and read all those historical markers at the side of the road).

Kapolani ... isn't McD now selling Spam and rice? I understood it was a tie-in with the Cat in the Hat movie. Or, maybe that is just a Hawaiian tie-in. BTW, I am not from Hawaii, although I've been living here almost ten years. I'm originally from the Midwest (not Chicago!).

I haven't lived in Hawaii since 1989.

I moved to the East Coast with my family. I've been here off and on for the last 14 years or so (joined the military, went to college, etc...)

Let us know when you get out here and we'll show you around!

Aloha,
kapo

I have already bookmarked the website. Once I am in the area I do plan on joining. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all and doing some fun MINI cruises (and autocross!).
