MINI of Sterling performance packages
>>Just how long does it take to put on a pully? From what I understand you pop off the old one put on the new one and replace the belt. It seems like you wouldn't be in there for more than an hour, 2 at the most. The Pully costs 250 (maybe +50 for the adapter) so thats 300 plus an hour of install which works out to be almost 400. Why are the prices at Sterling seem so high then? (570 and 650?) I could see 400, but not 600-650.
hmmm. The Master Himself, Randy Webb, did mine in an hour. It was $400 installed (@ Richmond pulley party this past March). It would have taken me probably 3-5 hours, and even then I would have been a little scared. For a first-timer, my guess would be about 4-6 hours with all the right tools, maybe less with a helper.

Keep in mind, Sterling also charges $100/hr for labor.
Also Gene Chun is now history, there is a new service writer at Sterling starting this week... That's what happens when customer satisfaction for MINI service is 5 points lower than every other department...

It sounds like you guys have a few great sources out there. Does anyone know where I can have a 15% pulley installed here locally, in the LA/OC Cerritos/Long Beach area?

Something else I found out from Sterling this past weekend....
Sterling has yet to have anything on a car break as a result of one of their aftermarket parts installs. However, I've been assured that if something does break, and it's related to one of their installs, Sterling will make sure your warrantee is honored, no matter where your car is!. I've been told that even if it means that Sterling has to ship an engine accross the country to get your problem fixed, they'll do it...

Hey, you're in luck! Randy Webb is doing a pulley party in LA at the end of this month!!! Check webbmotorsports.com, click the "Garage" link, then look under the Pulley Parties forum. Hope this helps.
