I've been to Mini of Sterling, VA - "They come like that" with the inquiry to removal of LoJack ($895), PIAA lights ($795) and ClearBra ($995)

I spoke with Mini of Towson, MD - MSRP but also seems to only want to sell them with accessories.

I have emails out to two other dealers and hope to hear back from them Monday.

It seems as though there are several dealers with MCSs on their lots unclaimed. Are there any dealers who are willing to actually deal on these cars to sell them before the end of the year? I am ready to buy and plan to walk in with a check and leave, probably one of the easiest and quickest sales for them this month.

I like how the cost of some accessories varies to the tune of a $400 difference for the same item.

Appreciate suggestions.

I live in Richmond and as of this past Saturday Crown MINI had 20+ cars in stock including Cooper S. They will not add accessories unless you want them or they hook up a demo car or something.

Give them a call (804)527-6877 and tell them Mike with the Pure Silver JCW sent you (I have no ties to the dealer).

I live in DC area and bought from Sterling MINI, and waited 3 months for delivery for an MC. I've visited Checkered Flag MINI in Virginia Beach several times and spoke with Ernest. Very friendly. Seemed like a good place. You may want to call him at 757-270-8080. He said that they should be able to get a car quicker than Sterling. Good luck. Whatever you pay and whatever options you get, in the end you will have a great car and be happy motoring.

Well, i spoke with Mini of Sterling - ugh! The typical BMW snobby attitude. They were not willing to working with me one bit. I said I was ready to buy and would be paying cash. My only stipulation was that I did not want LoJack - "all of them come from the port that way." <-- Maybe at this dealership they do, but the 3 other dealers i spoke with had several Coopers untouched. He could have discounted the LoJack as a show of good faith that he wanted my business. The clear bra had not been installed yet so they could have negotiated that. I even said to him, I would purchase other accessories to offset the "profit loss" from the LoJack. It is ALL PROFIT anyway, geez. Talk about greedy but then what else should I have expected from a BMW dealer in Northern Viriginia. -- Maybe this sales guy is from HBL of Tysons Corner.

I also want to note that Kelly A. at Crown Mini in Richomond,VA was a joy to talk with on the phone. I would have purchase from her but she didn't have the color combo I was looking for.

thanks for the feedback guys.

i don't like mini of sterling either. the problem is they know these minis will be sold no matter what and will be sold above msrp to someone who couldn't wait the queue. he lied when said all the minis come with lojack at port. mine don't have lojak installed but i did have to wait about 6 weeks for the regular cooper.

they have the easiest job in car-selling world since there is no haggle and they don't even attempt to take trade-in. in my case, they said to sell the car yourself or go the nearby carmax.

i think they need more close-by competition since the demise of mini of arlington. their closest competition is in townson or richmond

lojack has VERY limited areas it works in. Got to lojack.com and look at their coverage. It says, for example, 100% coverage in California, then it say 80% of the population, read as Greater San Diego, Greater LA, Greater San Francisco, Greater Sacramento, and maybe Bakersfield. Everywhere else if they get your car it does not work.

I did not want and did not take it.

Picked up my MCS tonight. I forgot my iPod so I couldn't test out the AUX input. The drive was fantastic. I took 70 to 15s through Leesburg instead of fighting both 695 & 495. The car is a little darty but very fun to drive. I finally have a modern day Rabbit GTI in both size and spirit.

I test drove the Works Cooper while waiting for delivery. Apparently it also had a pulley installed, it was pretty darn quick above 4k and I liked the slight burble when letting off the gas. If the kit wasn't so darn expensive.

I'll start searching the forum for performance mod. information. If anyone has any good bookmarks please send them my way...much appreciated.

cheers and I look forward to meeting some local Mini owners at a GTG in the future.

Sterling puts Lojack in all of their cars that they buy "on spec." If you order a car from Sterling, they will not put the Lojack in automatically.

Sterling will not move much (if at all) on it's dealer spec cars. There was a VR MC w/Nav, rally lights, Lojack, and clear bra that sat on their lot for 8 months before they finally sold it. The lowest I saw them mark it down was to $27k.

If you want to deal with Sterling, order your car from them... But remember, there is still very little negotiating with any dealer when you buy a MINI.
