NoVA! Sound off!

Hey Northern Virginians. I'm just trying to get an idea of how many of us are on here.

I was born, raised and lived in NoVa (fairfax, 30 years minus a few years for college) up until 3 years ago. Does that count?

I'm still local though. Well, inside the beltway.

I thought perhaps everyone was out enjoying their Mini's instead of posting

BTW is there a Mid-A or NoVA run to Skyline Drive?

Arlington

Arlington here - I just never could get into migrating over to an isolated, stand-alone DCMM site. That never made sense to me...

So I'm here, always happy to participate.

And DCMM is the local MINI owners/enthusiasts group that coordinate events, drives, get togethers, meet & greets, etc. Nice group, fun to hang out with.

Shame how things are fractured sincd DCMM left NAM. I don't know the reasons and frankly don't care either way. I'm too old to get wound up about clubs 'politics' and such.

But we seem to have no central forum with chat for NoVa split 'tween so many places and forums. Check here, CAM, DCMM, then I guess some of the other sites? I even just checked Carlisle (PA) since I go up there a lot.

Sigh

I agree 100% with you - I thought that was an ill-advised move and I certainly didn't follow along - I have enough forums that I try to keep in touch with to add yet another one. Plus, I turn to NAM as my MINI community and, well, it didn't sit right with me to split off. I'm sure they had their reasons, but I wonder if they're happy with the results.

Maybe we should start a new, regional, all-inclusive, NAM-anchored club - Mid Atlantic MINIS. Oh wait, that would make us MAMs

I missed not going on the Spring Fling drive this year.

I even made the new DCMM forum my start up page after a while, to put all due effort into keeping up with it. But there just isn't enough activity there to hold my interest. DCMM is still having events and I think the same number as before but the total amount of chat on the site is too little to keep me reading it often, and hence I miss out on events.

I've been involved in a number of clubs (non car) over the years. Cycling, Computer, Sailing, etc.

The most successful was a 'non club', just a name and a time and place that people gathered. No rules, no members, no fighting or politics. Just fun.
