My fellow Pennsylvanians....

I want to get a vanity plate for Ollie. When I adopted him, the finance guy told me there was a website for PA where you could type in the plate you wanted and immediately see if it was avaiable. In my excitement, however, I forgot to write down the web address. Does anyone else know it? I know there are forms you can download, fill in your top few choices, mail and wait, but I was looking more for immediate gratification

Help?

I have a vanity plate - but I'm not aware of a website in PA to check. I got mine through AAA - they can log onto some State site and check.

^^Thanks for the info! I suppose that's what I'll do, as I have searched high and low and not found a trace of this so-called website. Doh! Should have known it was too good to be true!

From what I was told by PennDOT when researching a vanity plate for Molly, that is untrue. Unless, that is, they've restructured the system since last October (somewhat doubtful). Some states do have a handy website, and PA would like to from what I understand. Apparently, however, the only system they had as of last October to check plates was the same system that maintained the Driver's records (personal information) and they supposedly had not extracted a database that could be maintained in real-time and used for web accessible searches for just the plate information outside of the whole system. ...Or something like that.

Until they get the website thing going, you can just call PennDOT and ask about the options you're interested in.

Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Call Center

If you are calling from...

within state
1-800-932-4600

out of state
1-717-391-6190

Hope that helps!
