Is it a bad time of year to sell a MINI? I havent gotten much interest so far. Any ideas? I have it on Autotrader and a few forums. Luckily I am not in much of a hurry, maybe I will have better luck in the spring.

I'd try e-bay. That sounds like a good deal to me.

Wait a minute, a 4 year old car, just coming out of warranty for $2500 under it's base list price in 2002 is a good deal? I think you can see why there are no calls. People have to get a deal to buy used with nearly 50K on the car, sorry....

I'd say he is probably asking under Private Party Book value for his ride. 17,500 sounds reasonable to me. I would try Autotrader.com or ebay. Good luck with your sale.

NO CALLS = no interest, a 2002 is a buyers not a sellers market, when someone can buy NEW, IMO. Even listing it at $16995 could generate some traffic. If you want to move a vehicle, any vehicle, and yes the MINI is just a car, even though no one here seems to believe that, you will have to bring the price closer to wholesale I think. What good is a listing if no one calls?

That is an inaccurate observation. To build the identical car in 2006 it would cost $24,795. At my sale price of $17500, that is $7295 less than a new MINI identically equipped,sorry...

Not an observation but my assessment of the used and new car market. I believe that "packages" are pure profit for the car manufacturer and just a sales gimmick to drive up the price of a reasonably priced vehicle. I feel these cars hold their value for a few years around the base MSRP, but that everyone asks way too much for them used thinking the add-ons push up the value of the car significantly. You're not getting much interest yet are you?

To move a vehicle it has to be priced right, what does CARMAX offer for it or what can you get if you trade it? Those are where you establish the value of a used vehicle not with a 2006 model with these same add-ons. It has nearly 50K miles on it, that makes any car harder to sell, I have been doing this a long time but GOOD LUCK, at least try listing it at $17,450, it sounds lower, and don't say FIRM, every one wants to think they can deal for something.

Drop me a email at Dkimble5(at)Knology.net. I may have a way to help you sell your car. I sold my 2002 base car for 17K with 42K miles.

There are a group of people on this message board who believe it is their duty to tell you that you're asking too much on anything you have to sell. In some instances, it can be a help - but in most cases I think it's just rude.

I sold my 2002 MCS back in August with more miles on it than yours has with less options on it for 17K. SOMEONE will buy your car at that price.

Good luck with the sale!

Was asking $19k, then got it down to $16K.. Trade in is $15,700 (without considering the mods i've done to it...see below).
I'll go as low as $13K to someone on this board (if my trade-in comes in less, I'll sell if for less).
Thanks. John

That IS how you sell a car, by getting realistic about the price. Hang in there and get the new price to as many venues as you can. What does CARMAX offer you for it? If it's enough that is an easy way to go.

Yes, just because a knowledgeable NAM personality thinks that your price is too high, doesn't mean that an unknowing soon to be MINI owner will not find your price attractive. I am also selling a MC right now, and though I have not had too much interest as my price would be considered high on NAM, I have had a few interested people say that they want a MINI now and do not want to wait, or cannot afford a new one. I suspect that one of these will eventually buy it. Good luck to you, and to me.

I think it's a decent deal. Is it a steal? No, but like other people have said, I think you will get it with the right buyer. Look at my 04, it stickered for $24,500ish new. I did do some mods but all said and done I sold it for $24,500 a couple months ago. Carmax had one down the street that was $500 over what it stickered for new (I looked up the VIN).

Doesnt sound too bad to me either. With the way MINI's hold their value. I would try a posting on ebay as well and go from there! Good luck!
