just got mine! Wow, those tips are big!

Now for the install. Remove of the stock seems to be the hardest part.

I would start tonight if it were not for a late night work meeting.

And yes, my car needs a bath. Was starting to do this when I noticed a large box in the garage and got derailed.

And yes there is a baffle between the exits to the tips. Saw that question somewhere.

Those are nice looking tips. The MC one doesn't look as nice. $200 is a great price and considering they are in Chatsworth, I think I can save on shipping and pick it up. I think I'll order one too!!!

I think, but I am defintely not sure, that the L/R version is two pipes coming out the back with one in the Cooper location and the other symmetrically on the other side.

Go to the Remus site and look at the application guide. They do not show picture which is a shame. I would ask if you are really interested.

I have one of these on my june 2002 MCS.absolutely love it! Really classy sounds at all levels,no drone at highway, and this is something i would absolutely not tolerate due to a fairly severe case of tinnitus.I'll be at MINISONTOP if anyone cares to have a live performance.Dark silver/white top with R88 wheels(only one I've ever seen with these combinations, see the pic next to my name)

I bit the bullet tonight and bought one for myself as well. Even convinced a friend of mine to buy one!!! So 2 more taken off the eBay list for Coopers.

Thanks for the tip guys! Anyone have any photos on installation? Just wondering if to cut the pipe I will need to remove the entire Cat Back?

Also I've got a cutting wheel for my circular saw that I use to cut aluminum Speed Rail. Was wondering if that would be overkill for this.

Thanks!!!

I believe that the L/R version is for the Cooper; one exit at normal place, one on driver side. I don't know if it will fit Cooper S. Ask them before you buy for a MCS. They respond to email quickly. Note that the Title of the auction says Cooper S but the discription says Cooper.

I asked about the 04 and they responded they have not fitted one to a 04 chassis. Has anyone fitted this to the 04 chassis?

Remus PayPal Account???

Can someone that's bought this exhaust from Remus please PM me the PayPal address that you made payment to? I'm trying to do a Will Call which they have no problem doing, but their PayPal invoice thing keeps charging $11.32.

I'm talking to Joe at Remus and he has no idea what their PayPal account is and asked me to go search their website. Ugh. I'm just trying to send them money.

If any of you have paid via PayPal, I'd appreciate knowing where to send the money to.

Thanks

Richard

Richard,

I could not use their paypal addy to pay with credit cards. So I called Joe and just paid him over the phone. And now I cannot find their addy.

Everyone else:

IT's INSTALLED!!!

At first I thought, OMG what have I done! But it settled down quickly and now sounds great!!!

Install time was 2.5 hours with me taking my time.

Tips:
  • fit all the pipes together before going under car. I few adjustments with my friendly hammer were needed.
  • Put the tip pipe on the two mufflers before you hang both the mufflers. You will take back off if you don't.
  • The big channel locks with lube is a good method to remove the stock hangers. One side on the nub sticking out and the other on the other side of the rubber. Squeeze and cuss from then on.
  • Spray the nubs of the Remus before trying to install.
  • Deep Creep is better than WD40
  • Yes, you must unbolt the stock system from the cat to cut it.
  • Support the stock unit with a jack stand before removing that last nut.
  • The how-to on Webb Motorsports site is very useful. Thanks Randy.
  • The battery stone shield will have to be painted black or cut. I see too much of it right now. You do have adjust it quite a bit.
Now to go enjoy it! Bye......

Do you have adjust the battery stone shield or the exhaust "quite a bit"?
Do you see the mufflers hanging below the rear bumper cover ? I get mine tomorrow.

Thanks. I noticed that the ebay account for remususa is under Jim Cozzie. I'll try using that email account.

Thanks a lot.

Sorry, the battery stone shield. Very soft metal that can be bent by hand or hammer. No major operation needed. You can see it in this pic.

If you look hard. Since they are black, you really do not see them. I just noticed I have the right one lower than the other. I will have to adjust it later. The tips are right. centered. May not worry about it.

Ok for anyone that may be purchasing this item and is in the Los Angeles/OC area that wants to pick up the item and pay via PAYPAL this is what you need to do.

Click the BUY IT NOW
On the PayPal invoice form in eBay it will show you the shipping charge. I would change the shipping address to Remus's address to prevent any confusion.

B&M Racing
9142 Independence Ave.
Chatsworth, CA 91311
United States

Then below the shipping charge, there is a line for:
Seller Discounts (-) or Charges (+):
(seller discounts, services, etc.)

Just put in the negative shipping charge that the invoice shows. In my case it was $11.32 so I put -$11.32

This subtracted the shipping charge and I then clicked Pay.

They are open M-F 8AM to 5PM. You need to give the seller
Joe, jshober@bmracing.com, 1 or 2 days advance notice of pickup to arrange it.

Hope that helps anyone else.

Richard

Yes. Can't figure out how the pipes are supposed to connect. I'm probably just an idiot, but I can't find anything anywhere!

My understanding is that the Remus should slip on and you can use clamps? Are these not included?

Randy's article seems helpful

movieman,

If yours is like mine (S), after you cut your stock pipe, the Remus pipe is supposed to slide over the stock part. However, the Remus pipe needed a little adjustment with my hammer to open up the flange so it would go over the stock pipe. Not much, but enough that it was not going over the stock piece without a few good whacks.

Couple of age old sayings:

- if it ain't broke, you didn't use a big enough hammer.
- if they don't fit, use a bigger hammer.

Hope this helps.

Ok, got it. Here's a few tips for those who haven't installed yet.

1. Leave the pipe a bit longer than they advise. Try around 24 in or so. Even 24.5-25 might work. It will slide into the Remus pipe and make less leakage issues

2. They give you a metal "reducer" that you don't need. It's in the end of the Remus pipe. Take it out now, before you try to figure out how to use it and end up throwing it at your neighbor.

3. Reinstallation of the rubber hangars is a PITA. No real help except use a 90degree 13mm ratchet for the driver's side. This part really sucks!

At first notice, it doesn't sound much louder than stock.

Ok, short trip impressions (I just went to get lunch):

Slightly louder than stock (slightly), but a deeper drone. At low RPM's I can hear a difference. At higher rpm's my CAI kicks in. I must have a louder CAI than most, because it overtakes my exhaust at 4.5K rpms.

Performance? Don't really notice any gains yet. I'll let you know what I think after I get off tonight (after I put 100 miles on it!). All the reviews I've read say it takes about a month to break in, so I'll try to keep that in mind.

Thanks Movieman,
I'm planning to do my install by this weekend on my MC. How long did it take you to do? Can you give me any more details about how you got the car up? Did you use ramps?? Jacks??
