Hate to admit it, but I just jacked up the driver's side with the OEM MINI jack, then put it on a jack stand. Ramps would be easier. It took me 3 1/2 hours, but I spent at least half an hour trying to find out what I was supposed to do. Took a while to cut it also. If you remove the whole cat-back on the car now, it won't take as long. I left it hooked up to the cat. Oh, and it helps to have an extra set of hands to hold/move things around when re-installing it.

Got my MCS system wednesday. Had it installed today. I cut and cleaned up the OEM pipe last night since the stock exhaust was sitting outside of my office. I replaced a Magnaflow exhaust. I am very pleased with the Remus sound.

Wacky coincidence - I also received the standard MC Remus today and last weekend I bought a used MCS sway bar for the rear. Waiting for new sway bar bushings and some free time to install the 2. Hope your install goes without a hitch.

MC Installation Write Up Coming..

Tonight, I did the MC installation. Thanks to GoMINIGo and MovieMan for the tips. I got some more to share! But I'm exhausted. Just wanted to say the Remus SOUNDS great, I do feel more power, and I'm very pleased.

Install took about 3 hours with 2 of us working. Never did anything like this before. We took pictures, and double checked everything we did, so it took longer than normal.

Thanks Phubear2 for helping me!! Now it's my turn to return the favor!

Richard

I don't know for sure about the Cooper but they changed the exhaust
hangers on the Cooper S on cars built around Jan 04.

A muffler shop can change the hangers on the exhause for about $50.

nothing yet

I purchased my 03 MCS system this past Tuesday. and as of yet no word from Remus about shipping or if they have even received my payment (Paypal said they have). Has anyone had this same problem... I E-mailed them through the Ebay site Friday and as of yet no response. If anyone has had this same problem please respond.. I may have to call them Monday.

Just can't wait till I get that new sound...

Thanks,
Mark

They responded quickly to my email. Shiped the next day after I paid via PayPal. I had to ask for tracking number. Call them.

They don't initiate emails, but told me in an email I sent that they ship within 2 days after payment is confirmed. Shipping is UPS Ground. I won it on Thursday, and got it the next Wednesday.

Did the install tonight. Took 2 hours start to finish. Couple of notes: I couldn't break the bolts loose at the Cat so instead I dropped the factory exhaust off the brackets, and took the front 4 bolts off the middle hanger, the back 2 bolts I unloosened until they were just threaded, took a hacksaw and cut factory pipe loose 34" forward of the exhaust hangers. Slid on the Remus and bolted everything back together. Only hard part was cutting the factory pipe in place, I had to take apart the hacksaw, re-assemble it over the pipe and cut. Leaving the middle hanger in place kept all the parts that were to remain steady and in place.

All in all:
The car sounds that much sweeter now. Can't wait till it's completely broken in!

Hey, Octane Guy: did you ever write a "how-to" on the MC Remus install? I just received the Remus and am interested in your installation comments. Thanks

I got lots of comments. The write up is almost done. I'll try to get it posted tonight.

It's fairly straightforward, but since I've now done it twice, there are some things that we learned!!

Yay! Yes...looking foward to that write-up! My remus landed in Honolulu this morning and is scheduled for delivery to me tomorrow. Unfortunately I won't be at home, so I might have to wait until Monday to pick it up!!! Since i'm a girl, I'm really hoping to get that write-up BEFORE I ask my brother to help me install it. That way I can pretend like I know what I'm doing when I help him!

Wooohooo, you're going to love it!!! It sounds great. Throatier, deeper. Idle is a like low gurgling. I feel more power during acceleration. It doesn't seem louder than OEM.

I'll have the full writeup available this weekend!

My Remus is in the garage at home waiting to be installed this weekend. Some instructions would really help me out, too!

Thanks.

Ok, the first version of my writeup is done. I will be making another version for NAM later.

http://www.littlemini.us/technical/exhaust/index.asp

It's a full write up including before/after sound clips. Let me know if you have any comments or questions.

I've included some pix of some of the most confusing, and least documented aspects of the exhaust install here:

REAR RUBBER HANGER MOUNTS

EXHAUST FLANGE BOLTS

DISCARD THIS END PIECE

Looks like this when removed

Read the full article here:

Thanks

Richard

Great write-up. Good job. Just printed it and will use it outside during the installation. I'll let you know how it goes and if I have any comments.
Thanks again

Ok, I posted the NAM version of the write up here. Should be easier to view and print out. Hope it helps!
