Nice Cooper S, but will be a hard sell at that price. $21,500 will "move the metal" as they say. Good luck...

Remember, a vehicle is going to sell for market value, not how much money you owe on it. It appears as though you may be "upside down" on this one...

I beg to differ. I spent most of the morning today looking at Autotrader.com sale ads for used MINIs (Coopers and MCS) from model years '02-'04 and 2004 MCS fully decked out are being listed in the $24K-$26K ballpark. Saw a couple of JCW MCS going for $28K-$32K!

Used '02 MCS are easily fetching $21K in our area. Cooper 5-speeds ('02-'03) modestly equipped are going for $19K-$20K.

Used Cooper CVTs are a hard find among all models. Either people are holding on to them or they are extremely unpopular.

In the west coast, specially the Pacific Northwest, used MINIs are being listed for 110% original MSRP

This is still pretty much a hot little car and if people want one now, they will be willing to pay for it.

To DHG000007:: Don't be discouraged by your asking price! $23K should be the absolute MINIMUM for a used '04 MCS with every option. Don't let go of this car for a penny less.

What they are listed for and what they sell for are two different things. I have watched a number of cars get listed at over MSRP and then sit for months only to be sold for close to what East Coast cars are going for. The market is slowing on the Mini. Six months ago in the NW a Mini S was hard to come by, now there are at least a dozen for sale used at any given time.

Good luck with the sale.

Again, it really depends on where you are. Here in the NE, there are a lot of MINIs. A very quick Autotrader search of my area (only 03's & 04's in a 25 mile radius) turned up 2 fully decked MCS's for under $23k (both at MINI dealers, no less) and a loaded JCW for under $27K.
