Looking for a junked MINI Cooper
Looking for a junked MINI Cooper
I'm looking for a MINI Cooper body. Preferably one that is not damaged from the doors forward. The back can be smashed, as I have plans for that area anyway.
For it to be perfect, the engine and electronics would work, or be serviceable.
But, basically, if anyone knows where to find a wrecked/junked new model MINI Cooper for sale, please let me know...I have a project I want to start.

You don't really think you're going to get away with a request like that without giving us more details of your "project," do you?
Good luck! Just about every totalled MINI I've ever heard of has has a wrecked front end, but hopefully you can find an exception to that trend. One exception I can think of is NAM member jonauto, who's restoring a Cooper that had had an engine fire, which I believe he bought on ebay for around $8k.

Well, my family tends to drag race cars. I never liked the over-the-top way that most of them look. So, I looked in the back of my MINI and realized how much room that is...along with the fact that it is a front wheel drive vehicle, so no real drive mechanics are behind the driver (except the gas tank and battery of course).
So, I'm thinking that I will get a Cooper, rip out the back seats, and probably the bottom of the back of the car, close in the area behind the front seats, and get a V8 Northstar engine, and full axle assembly out of a junked cadillac somewhere. I chose the Northstar because it is front wheel drive, and has good power.
Also, it should be easier, I can just take out the Cooper's axles and just "pop" in the northstar with it's entire drivetrain, with fewer modifications than trying to make a rear-wheel V8 operate wheels right under the engine.
Of course, the easiest thing would be to completely get rid of the 4 cylinder, put in a standard, rear-wheel V8, and operate the front wheels like the guy at http://www.miniv8.com did with his Mini pickup. But, my goal is to have the ability do drive around with the 4 cylinder. It will be a fully functional MINI Cooper, just like a normal one. But, with a flip of a switch, I can crank up the real power, put the "jekyll" side of the MINI in neutral, and pop the "hyde" side of the MINI into drive.
Let's just say, it's something to do...a project to take up lots of my spare time, hehe.
Sorry you asked?

Thanks guys, you're a huge help!
I'm currently calling the one that Technomage posted, it seems perfect for what I need. Heck, it seems to have almost no damage at all (relatively). I just hope they call me back.

Darn! The 4900 one was sold and I missed the bidding on the yellow one on ebay. That yellow one would have worked nicely, thanks for the link Minipolo...I was away all day and missed your post.
As for the gray one on ebay, it just makes me cry. It is so badly damaged, and with only 80+ miles on it! All the airbags popped too. <oh the humanity!>
