This is a great R53 must have item, at a great price. I have these in all my MINIs now. Great spot for driving lights switch too (if you have them).

This seems like a lazy response. "That's their job"??? Really? Just because it's nothing new to the internet doesn't make it any less troubling or less important to defend against! C'mon man. None of us should have to learn the hard way when some simple rules can be applied at the admin level. I'm speaking from experience here, having lost $700 to a fake R53 Aero bumper scam - right here on this very platform. I'm a seasoned internet user too, old enough to remember BBS systems and screechy modem sounds...but sometimes excitement and desire get the better of you, throwing caution to the wind.
Bottom line, just make it impossible to post in the Marketplace or PM anyone without 25 legit forum posts and 6 months time since initial registration. That alone will deter a lot of scammers. Then, as you suggested, leave it to us to research what those 25 posts were over that 6 month period. I think from there, you'd get a good idea of who's legit and who's scum of the earth. Yes, some people may sneak through, but that along with a GOOD scam warning sticky post, and then I'd say you've done your part. BTW, I've been on other auto forums that REQUIRE paid membership subscriptions to post cars or car parts for sale (like $35 a year)... I don't think you have to go that far (yet)...but please do something for crying out loud. </rant off>

We're open to suggestions as every community is different. Still, 25 posts or 25 months, you will still find scammers that work the system and have the time. Again, this is how they live.
At the end of the day, it really is between the seller and buyer to use the best judgement and make the decision as to what is best. No platform, unless it's a direct middle party handling the product and the funds, can offer absolute protection.
BTW, none of this really belongs in an ad. I simply replied to this ad to help clear the original poster (seller) after receiving a report and reviewing this situation because that seemed like the right thing to do.

I did not mis-understand, it just seems counter-productive to give credence to these scammers kicking back in their cubical somewhere in Bangalor by saying they have a 'job'... like it's somehow comparable to how you and I pay the bills day to day. As if a thief broke in to your garage and stole your MINI, and you just brush it off saying, "oh well, even the bad guys have to make a living too".
Look, I understand what you're getting at; you're essentially saying that these scumbags have devoted their life and time to scamming people and there's nothing they will stop at to steal. But let's not call it a 'job' or 'making a living'. Let's call it evil slime-***** taking advantage of innocent people. Fine, enough of semantics.
My hope was that you, as a forum moderator, would employ what tools you can and take some reasonable steps to deter this behavior. You may have security cameras on your house, a warning sticker on your window, a locked front gate, a red blinking light in your car. If the burglar is determined to get in, he will likely do so, despite your deterrents... but there are a portion of thieves who will see deterrents for what they are and move on to something easier.
Lastly, I do agree that none of this NAM Marketplace policy talk should be inside of a for sale post.... but dammit, either should a scammer.

I think you misunderstood. "That's their job" was in reference to the scammers. It is their job to scam people, and therefore, they continue to spend the time and effort. These are scammers that make their living doing this.
