Muffler replacement
Muffler replacement
Can anyone suggest a good place to get the muffler replaced on my 2004 Mini? Is the dealership the best spot? Don the Muffler Man? Import Auto? Phil at the dealership said it was a pricy job--maybe $1,000. When I asked Don the Muffler Man if they could replace a Mini muffler, he said, "Well, we have. It's a sticky job," which doesn't give me a lot of confidence. Suggestions based on experience most welcome!
Order a stainless steel aftermarket cat-back system from one of the vendors (see Vendor Directory at the left of this page).
It will be very easy for a shop (or yourself) to install it (except maybe getting the two rusted nuts off of the back cat flange connection).
Here are two suggestions:

I agree with cristo. I have a Magnaflo on my 02 Cooper S. I've seen several switched at a tuner event and I don't think it's all that difficult for those with some mechanical expertise. I know that NAM and/or Magnaflo have step by step instructions. Good luck!
