Found this on MINI2. Not too sure if I'm a fan of the aero kit any more. I like the sides and the front, but the back is just too wierd for me.

That is putting it nicely. The current Aero rear bumper is a bit over the top, but this one is just naztee. I have the Aero kit sans rear bumper now, and it looks like I will probably do the same on my 08 R56 Works.

I agree, that rear bumper is horrific. If that car is at the dealer awaiting delivery, then the MINI aero kit in the Hyper Sport Package from the factory may be the same as the JCW Aero kit.

I wonder if any one has put the Aero on with the side skirts painted bacl on a CR/B car.... I love the look of the aero, but i also love the look of the black stock trim along the bottom.

I just got this from Miniusa.com

"Hi Jeff,

Thanks for writing MINI. We appreciate your inquiry.

Unfortunately, we do not yet have any information to share on the factory installed aero kit. However, at this time we do not expect it to be available before summer 2007 production.

For more information on the JCW aero kit, I would suggest checking out the "Accessories" section of the configurator on MINIUSA.com. There are a couple different photos of this kit under "Exterior Styling" and "JCW."

I apologize that I am unable to provide you with more information. If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to drop me an e-mail. I will be happy to lend a hand.

It would seem I'm destined for a JCW Aero then... Plus I think they look just great.

I assume the factory installed aero kit is the kit in the hyper sport. The website says the hyper sport package would be available in March production. If the aero kit is available in the summer, I guess I'm going to pass-I can't wait any longer for my MINI!

My too. I'm already figuring out what options to cut to just get the JCW kit instead. Plus I wanted leather seats! I think I may have to drop the premium package and just get the sunroof but skip the auto AC and leather steering wheel.

My MA says the JCW will cost about 2800, installed. Plus the sports suspension if I want to keep that upgraded. Sigh...

Chopper thanks for posting the pic of my car. That's quite an ego boost. :-)
I personally can't wait for someone to make a knock-off of the GP Aero package, especially the under tray and the wing. I would really like to get that handling onto my MCS and I'm sure it would benefit the R56 I'm getting next year.

Yep... here's an article on MINI2:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-m...lots-pics.html

It's a cooper (vs. and MCS), but it gives you a good idea what it would look like. There are a few colors where the rear bumper's oddities kind of "blend in" a bit more than others. I think the darker the better for that piece.

i'm not convinced about the new kit aero. Looks heavy, not as refined as its R53 equivalent.

Does anyone know how much the JCW seats cost? Also, how much they weigh v. the weight of the stock sports seats?

Thanks,

Maciek

In the UK they are £895 each so expect the $1400 - 1800 range per seat. This price is not for the heated version.

Quote for installation

Anyone been quoted a fitting price for the Aero kit? I ordered the JCW kit and have yet to be quoted the cost to install it. I'd like to know if the factory is sending the Aero kits painted when they're ordered with a new car. MotoringFile has a DIY install pdf for this (thanks MF) and it states just 1.5 hours install if the kit is prepainted. I did notice that on the week of the British launch of the R56 that a lot of cars had aero kits mounted right away, so maybe that's a good sign that although the JCW aero kit is not factory installed, it is readily fit without the need to prep and paint.

The JCW Aero kit will be $1,276 + tax or shipping from Classic MINI......when they are able to get them from MINI's warehouse.

I look forward to when MINI will offer the kit in individual pieces, as I'll get the front bumper and side sills and pass on the rear bumper.

That's a very good price. 300 less than MSRP. Is that for the R56?
Where is Classic MINI?

Here is a response I got from MINI about buying the JCW aero components seperately;
Thanks for writing MINI. We appreciate your inquiry.

Unfortunately, once the aero kit becomes available, it will come as a
complete kit. It is not possible to order the side skirts without
ordering the front and rear bumpers as well. I do apologize for the
disappointment this causes.

If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to
drop me an e-mail. I will be happy to lend a hand.

Has anyone been able to confirm that the JCW Aero Kit is pre-painted? Based on the instructions it looks like it is. If a dealer is charging $1000+ to install I wonder if they are just praying on people not knowing they are prepainted like last-gen.

(My MCS just made it to port today!!!)

Naturally the factory installed are factory color coded. From what I have been told the dealer installed kits are primed for the US Market.
The uK seems to be treated differently. Factory painted and components of the kit are available as individual purchases over there -- not in the US -- well that's the word I'm getting -- which is far from official.
