I got a mini cooper jcw 2017, runs pretty smooth but sometimes the temp gauge jumps from OK to high within few seconds and then drops down back to normal pretty quick. I changed the water pump, thermostat and still I cant find the problem. When the temp goes high, once its cools down I can see that the coolant level has dropped so I need to refill with approx 1l. I channged the ac compressor together with the radiator too. Has anyone seen something similar or what could be wrong that i would need to look? On one hand, with a 2017 car, you are in the wrong "car year" section. This area is for the first generation cars.

Normally, when the temp. gauge needle jumps around like that, it means that there is a large air pocket in the cooling system. And from your "level has dropped" comment, it just sounds like you aren't fully or properly "filling" your system with water/coolant.
Or...you have a leak somewhere that is causing this air pocket, or bubble in the system.

Look closely for leaks.
Verify that you are "fully filling" the system, bleeding all air out.

Note: it's possible that you're losing fluid only during drive time when your temps are highest (more internal pressure). If that's the case you might not necessarily see coolant under the car when parked.

 

While I'm speeding up and get to required speed my RPM measure either drops and steadies or bounces up then steadies back. Additionally assuming I push her an excessive amount to go quicker excessively fast it begins behaving like the transmission is slipping. I've sorted out that in the event that I stop (in a protected spot, obviously) and cut the motor and stand by a couple of moments and restart the motor the transmission is fine once more. I was informed I really wanted new admission gaskets, that's what I did it's actually working out? might it at some point be a sensor?
