So I wanted to do my first oil change. First of all on our 22 F57 JCW Conv there are no access ports for the filter and oil drain. The entire “plate” needs to be removed. Secondly they are a weird Torx. They have a sort of a nib in the middle so a regular torx won’t work. Anyone know that size and type to remove those?
Those are tamper-proof or security torx bits, should be able to find the at the auto store or Lowe’s.
And if I where you I would just get a set of them. You will most likely need them for something else.
Thanks. Yes got them at Lowe’s. Here is what I bought and you need the T27
And just to help everyone else out this is what you will need to get the job done at least for a 22 F57 JCW
17mm socket for oil drain plug and you tighten this to 25NM of torque
The tamper torx in the T27 size for the cover removal.
Regular torx T55 for the filter drain plug and you tighten that to 5NM of torque
Lastly a 32 mm socket for the oil filter and you tighten that to 25 NM or torque
My vehicle takes 5 quarts of oil. There was a lot of information and some was 5 and some was 5.5. I can tell you mine was 5. Also checked after driving and it is right at the full line via the Mini measurement.
Hope that helps someone. Next oil change will go way faster.
