Oil Changes

Im a very new owner of an 06 Mini S and it needs an oil change. What type of oil and filter is recommended and how do I reset the interval counter on the display? I always change my own oil and would like to with this car also. Thanks in advance for your help.

A few random thoughts:

Get a gold filter from NAPA--made by WIX, better than the OEM filter. Its number 7303 I believe.

Consider a Fumoto valve for future oil changes. You'll never have to worry about stripping the threads, or somebody else stripping them...

If you don't get a fumoto, at the very least, make sure you have an extra plug for the oil pan, in case there is a problem with the one thats currently in there, or in case there is a problem with the one in there when you remove it (ask me how I know...).

The DIY oil change guide is around here somewhere, and everything else you need is in it. Its relatively simple, just make sure you have the right tools and its a breeze.

Why is the WIX/NAPA better then the OEM filter?

better construction....instead of paper ends they are reinforced plastic ends so less chance of collapse(as the ends are connected to the ribbing)...WIX is pretty much one of the Top manufactors of filters (they are the official filter of Nascar)....been running WIX Goldline filters on my MINI for a few years and it works great
