2009 JCW rebuild block question?

Hello! newb here to this mini world. As far as some of my research goes its to my understanding N14 are turbos correct?

I have a 09 pepper white mini JCW. Cylinder 4 wall scored due to plug melting a hole on top of piston. Cylinder head is ok. My intention are to find a short block for it. So will I be good with any R56 N14 block just as long as it’s out of a cooper S? Or does it Necessarily need to be from JCW block?

if so what are the differences?

ive herd the head is different along with valves. But I figure the bottom end would be the same for both, unless the JCW is built different. I’m new to all this and just want to make sure I buy the correct things. TIA!

Yes, N14 imply's a turbo. JCW has 10.0:1 CR while the S has 10.5:1 CR, so pistons are different. Possibly other differences too. If you're the original owner, or at least know how the engine has been maintained, I'd recommend keeping this block and boring out the cylinders to 77.5mm for new pistons. Any short block will be an unknown and a big risk.
