2011 Countryman Oil Leak Galley Plug Cause?
2011 Countryman Oil Leak Galley Plug Cause?
Hi all...wondered if anyone here has mechanical knowledge of the R60. A few days ago, the engine suddenly started leaking massive amounts of oil while driving and started smoking. I immediately stopped and saw oil leaking out near the engine on the passenger side.
I towed it to indy Mini repair shop here who could not, and still definitively has not, figure doubt how it is leaking. they called today and said it's coming from the oil galley plug...but cannot explain why it's blowing it out. Think it could be PVC related to pressure too high. Mentioned maybe replacing a $450 headcover but still stumped.
Anyone familiar with this happening, causes, etc. Thx,.

could be the crankshaft seal if its on the passenger side. could also be the oil solenoid wire, which is located on the back side of the oil pan. i've got a pretty big leak on the passenger side and it's from the crankshaft seal. mine spewed oil all over the passenger side of the engine bay on the underside and shredded my serpentine belt.
Check that and possible the turbo oil lines. What they sound like its the freeze plug?

I have a feeling that 1 of the oil plugs on the back of the motor under the clutch has come loose. we have seen them come loose several times.
