JCW what exactly does the different drivemodes do?
what exactly does the different drivemodes do?
I've searched for days and no thread has any hard facts. I have a 2019 JCW with DDC. I just want to know:
1) what exactly is mid mode (throttle suspension etc)
2) what exactly is sport mode (throttle, suspension etc)
3) when you change the gear shift to M/S and it indicates its in S(gear number) , how is that different from just sport mode?
Thanks a lot guys!

1 - I forget, its been so long since Ive been in mid/normal mode
2 - Sport mode makes the accelerator more responsive and the steering tighter. It makes the exhaust louder as well
3 - I have a manual so correct me if Im wrong but when you put it in S can you then shift, push up, push down that way?

Sport mode changes the way the throttle and steering feels. It can also make the suspension stiffer if you have the DDC suspension.
When you put the shifter into the M/S position it is in Sport mode. It will hold shifts longer and shift at higher RPM. Once you touch the paddles, it goes into Manual mode where you have to shift.

I've noticed in my wife's 2019 JCW Clubman that Sport mode plus moving the shift lever to the left (M/S mode) results in even sportier shifting, usually dropping another gear. It wasn't like that in her 2010 Clubman.
I've also noticed that auto stop/start still works in Sport mode, but is automatically disabled if you put it in M/S mode.

I just wanted know more exact information like percentages and stuff. The manual is extremely vague . Most information that I was able to find on the boards is mostly people guessing, so that's why I was asking for facts and percentages.
Maybe an email to Mini asking for the “specifics” you are interested in.... I would think they will forward to the right technical group(s) and you will get something that is accurate and reliable... not just opnions and hearsay. May take a while though... lol.
