JCW 2020 MINI GP Article
I hope they all sell and that dealers don't try and take advantage of the customers by inflating the price. I like that MINI did what they could to prevent dealers from grabbing the vehicles for stock and making this a pre-sale event focused on loyalty.
GP3, JCW and ALL4 models use the AISIN 8-speed automatic. Front wheel drive MINI Cooper/Cooper S models use the 7-speed double-clutch transmission. The PHEV uses the AISIN 6-speed automatic.
Thanks, must have missed that bit earlier.
A couple of questions for those who are going to actually buy a GP:
Will any of you use it as a daily driver?
Does anyone know if the air intake box/air filter/air intake plumbing from box to turbo differs from what they are using in the factory stock S or JCW set up?
While, IMHO, some of the fender treatment is a bit over-the-top, I totally get why some of you are willing to line up and fork over the loot for these little beasties. Special cars for sure!!
Thanks.

I’ve got my name in the hat as well. As a prior R53 owner was able to reserve earlier than gen pub. Hugely speculative but they are thinking a June-ish production/delivery.
I’m on the fence with the flairs but I will say the whole package is growing on me as I see more pics/vids and am really looking forward to delivery. could always invest in an extra set and have them painted body color. For those concerned over clensability, I suspect, for those that hand wash their cars, the gap will be little, if any, concern. There are plenty of other gaps and crevices on cars that are equally tricky to clean/wax.
While it would’ve been nice to have a manual gear box, I’ve become a fan of the “automatics” with paddle shifters. It may not be for all but I doubt it will disappoint me. Besides, this way my wife can have some of the fun as well! LOL
I’ll post updates as I receive them. And thanks to those that have posted pics from the car shows and for all the great info. Keep it coming.

I was surprised to find that I could left foot brake on the loaner Clubman I have. I can’t do this on my R56 S with the manual; left foot braking kills the engine power on that car and it takes forever for the power to return. On the Clubman (S model with the turbo) with the AT, at about 30 mph I got a nice grunt from the engine with both pedals pressed. On my R56 S, if I try this, I get nothing from the engine. I expect the GP3 will be the same as the Clubman and that will be great for those looking to take the GP3 to the track. The GP3 is looking better and better with each thing I find out about it...
I talked to the sales manager at my MINI dealer and she says that they have orders for 4 GP3s coming through their dealership. Good for them. And it seems like they are selling, if that is any indication.
As per my dealer apparently 300 out of the 465 cars for US have already been booked by Current GP and Mini Owners. The current window is open ONLY for general public. The dealer is hoping if the remaining 165 don’t get sold out then they might get Atleast 1 for the floor 😊
This is great news, we had some glitches with our original order twice, but I guess the third time was truly a charm. We are really looking forward to welcoming our newest mini home! I think we will order it with all the options as our favorite running area is a good distance from home and we don't plan to sweat and stink for over 200 miles one way! Bring on the twisties! I really would like to have the chrono pack in it, but I don't think it was an option. I prefer analog gauges to digital and I really liked it as it was right in my sight line, but I can make do and hopefully adapt to the digital display.

We took a trip with our son & his wife on Thanksgiving Day, and he was in a new BMW 330i that had digital gauges. Their X1 was at the dealer for warranty work, so they had a loaner. Our son really put that 330i through the paces though...very quick! The digital gauges were actually quite nice, and I was impressed. I am like you though, nothing like analog gauges for sure! I hope you get your GP3 with all the bells & whistles!

Yes that looks better. But what that does is make it look more like the JCW HB with those black plastic fenders. And they blend in with the body more because the car's black too. I can just see those things looking like hell after a couple of years. You'll need to buy stock in Black Wow lol. Maybe see if you can get it in a spray can like tire shine!
Heck I can't paint worth a darn no matter what I use. And, I really want it to look stellar. I thought about having it ceramic coated, but I really don't care for the factory paint scheme. I will have it tweaked to suit my preferences and hopefully make it more like the original concept. And, the wrap can be removed when it becomes shoddy after a lot of twisties. Our poor JCW has more road rash than paint and the windscreen is really pock marked!
Wrapped my S 3.5 years ago, liquid silver to Avery metallic black. Still looks great. Front chip repair: paper punch a disc from a piece of leftover scrap, apply. About a 30 second repair. Not visible. Road rash gone. Windshield is a different matter.
I thought I read somewhere in my cyber travels that we were supposed to order the GP this month, December, for delivery sometime next year. I think the delivery was to begin possibly in late March. Have any of you heard anything from mini about the actual delivery time frame?
