Alternative Brake Pads - Power Stop 17-1609 Front Z17
I spent some time looking for available alternative for front brake pads on our cars. There are not many that area readily available or reasonable priced. You can get these from from online sellers and local auto-parts houses for around $30. I looked at multiple Amazon reviews under "Power Stop evolution" and they had lots of 5 star reviewed products.
I found these that looked to be the correct size etc. and saw that a very similar sized pad is used on the 335i and Nissan 350z with Brembo brakes.
I gave them a shot and ordered via Amazon so I could return if needed.
Power Stop 17-1609 Front Z17 Evolution Clean Ride Ceramic Brake Pad with Hardware, 1 Pack.
The same company sells a track day compound that you can cross reference that I found for $75-90. I didn't want to order first time without seeing how there cheaper pads did/fit.
The fit was pretty much exact. They don't come with the little pads that go in the center of cylinders, but you can pop off and re-use. Does anyone know what they function for?
This is old pad overlay-ed against new pad.
The new pads have this piece of metal that holds them in place. YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE. It will barely clear your stock rim when in place. If you have larger rims you would be OK. Just a small tap with a hammer and they will break off.
