FWIW...the intake just allows you to hear turbo spool up and electronic BOV...there is a slight increase in air volume but not enough to warrant any major performance increase...
If you really look, the orignal air intake is a CAI. All that is needed to qualify as a CAI is getting all the air from outside the engine compartment, and it does.
If the filter is exposed to underwood air it is not a Cold air intake, just a little less restrictive. Counting the stock unit I tried three different systems and they were all basically noisemakers. I ended up with an ArmaSpeed intake. It uses the same intake ports on the front of the car but the system is designed to flow more air than the stock unit along with a less restrictive filter. I get better air flow, nothing but outside air (CAI), and it doesn't sound like it's having shivering fits when you let of the throttle. Just my opinion mind you, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
