JCW Air inlet temperature.

Air inlet temperature.

Does anybody know where the Air inlet temp. is taken from on the F56 JCW,the reason i ask is because on my Scangauge it goes up as the car gets warmer,while on my old R56 it wuold come down.

Good question....just have no idea. You would think that would be a critical temp to monitor on a turbocharged engine too! I'd think there must be a sensor near the inlet box somewhere. If there isn't, then there should be!

I would hazard a guess that it is somewhere after the intercooler, because the ECU needs info on what's actually feeding the combustion chamber. The IAT is going to go up as the engine warms up. All the intake plumbing is in a closed space under the hood and will be effected by the engine temp. (heat soak) My R56 worked the same way. A more efficient intercooler will keep the IAT lower and consequently have the potential to make more power.
