Dropping JCW with DCC

Hi there,

Exactly what it says in the title... Is it ok to just do lowering springs, and if so, which ones do you recommend?

CORRECTION: Meant to say DDC

As long as you're aware you're eliminating most of the compression travel and it'll be riding on the bumpstops, the dampers will be fine, it's not relevant if they're DDC or standard. The car will also not be as composed in bumpy corners since there will be virtually no compression travel.

Eibach Pro-Kit Tieferlegungsfedern MINI F56 John Cooper Works - E10-57-004-05-22

These might be an option as its only 15-20 mm drop,
Nb they have other ones with a bigger drop, so double check part numbers

I'm considering some for my own car with DDC,
as I'm not keen to pump big cash into coilovers if you cannot change from stock camber

Lowering Springs with DDC

Let's bring this back out again....now that there are a few more years of "testing". Any issues with installing lowering springs on JCW with DDC. I have heard everything from reduced lifespan on the shocks to introduction of bump steer. <---seems unlikely.

What say those who have lowered their JCW...with DDC?

Any time you add lowering springs to standard shocks, there is a high chance of early failure due to reduced travel. I have the Eibach springs on my JCW (non ddc), and I am already saving to get a set of Koni Yellow Sports to replace the stock shocks when they fail. The handling has been amazing with the Eibachs, though, totally worth it. With the bump steer, that probably depends on how much you drop the car. The Eibach is only about 1 inch, and I have had no issues with that, or hitting the bump stops.

I've got my 16 JCW dropped on NM springs. the car sits nice now, I cut down the front bump stops as suggested in the instructions, but didnt have time to cut down the rears. so far no issues and not riding on the stops. DDC still works great. Mid mode is like sport was, and sport is now more of a sport plus. Bump steer is unchanged, but handling is way better. better road feel as well. only time will tell how the shocks hold up. I got my car in april with 20K km on it, now sitting at 45K km. when they go, Ill throw yellows in.
