Well I realized that this car did not come with a homelink (garage buttons) and that sucked because I hate the standard big clicker with the clip that indents the visor. So I went to Home Depot and got the smallest transmitter I could get and used a little velcro. Not as good as a integrated homelink but it will do. Attachment 119355
After seeing this post, I went to HD and picked up the exact same transmitter. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work with my garage door opener, so I took it back and just velcro'd my original to the lower outside of the driver's seat. Perfect location and out of site.
Break in complete. Time for a quick oil change tomorrow and they let her rip. Attachment 120142
So, you're going to change your own oil & filter? Just curious cause I'm still only at a bit over 500 miles and it being winter, my JCW won't get close to 1,000+ until next summer when I'm due in for my first service! I sort of hate going so long with factory oil in there. I might have my BMW mechanic change the oil in the spring well before my scheduled annual service.
No I will take it to my local mechanic. Since Mini only does about 10k there is no way. Probably overkill but I always get old oil out at 1k in any new car. Then I will go 5k intervals. I will use Mobil 1 full synthetic. Just personal preference, its the same that Porsche uses and what is in that car.
Thanks. I totally agree with you. I may go the same route or I may go Castrol synthetic (probably what MINI uses)...I know BMW does. My mechanic who has serviced all of my cars for close to 30 years (BMW's) now works on MINIs as well, and he recommends oil changes at 5,000 or 6,000 miles. He doesn't agree with the 10,000 interval either! I'm anxious to have the oil changed once it is spring since I still believe it's not good to leave the break-in oil in there any longer that absolutely necessary (and that would be 1,000 to 1,200 miles)...this used to be BMW's recommendation years ago. One thing I truly believe in sticking with.
I'm anxious to see your NM Re12's on the car! RE71 215/40/18's? I wish they made that wheel in silver though...one reason I want to see the black ones on your JCW...I'd probably go with the satin black color if no silver. Also anxious to see what clearance you will get without spacers in the front!

Yea, Porsche / MINI oil its the mobile 1 0-40 euro formula. Guys run it in the winter for MINIs .
Yep used to carry Total , good oil, Motul 8100 x-cess , Pennzoil platinum Euro, Liquidmoly longtime high tech and the mobile 1, and genuine MINI meet the LL01.

Cool. My guy also likes that Liquidmoly and uses that in some applications.
